I was looking around on the web at work today and found this interesting news article. It says that in the UK someone invented something called The mosquito. It was suppose to be used to keep teenage gangs from hanging out at malls and stuff but it backfired. It uses a ultra high pitch frequency that only teenagers can hear due to the unavoidable hearing loss by adults. It was really cool cuz i played the sound for one of my co workers (hes like 40) and he was like "you going to play that sound or what?" and i had been. In fact to me it was LOUD as hell. Even more amazing aspect of this invention is that the teenagers have turned this concept around in their favor, they are using it as their cell phone ring tone...you guys should tell me what you think...

i have no idea..i dont live in the UK or know if they acually use it. All i know is that its used now as cell phone ringers so teachers dont hear kids texting/calling...kinda funny

I couldn't hear shit. Well a little bit. I vaguely heard a flutter and a high pitch when I cranked it but nothing that I would consider annoying. It's my old ass. I can't hear like I used to I guess.

Funny stuff.

Keep in mind, some of this depends on your sound card/hardware and speakers. It may cut it out entirely, or it may resynthesize it to a lower frequency or something (this is what I have heard).

Using quality audio equipment, I determined a month ago or so that I can still hear 17khz sounds, but not 18khz anymore. Kind of explains why I can't tell if the television is on or not when it's sitting there with a blank screen anymore.
