I was bored this weekend

So I decide to do an old school install in my WRX. Its not done yet, but you should get the jist of what is being done. Is this the best install I can do? Nope, but I'm hoping I can prove that SIMPLE, moderate installs can still look clean (again, I'm not done yet....bear with me) and sound great.
A little mix of old and new here. Phoenix Gold Octane-R 9.5:5 (center channel and rear surround), Phoenix Gold MS275 (Front Stage), and the legendary MPS2240 (2.4 watts x 2 on my subs....not a typo, that is/was the rating of that amp...any bets on how hard that amp can drive subs??)

Center channel (dual 4" Clarions) and the mounting slot for the "floating" xenarc touchscreen monitor for datalogging

View of the sub box...backseat is removed for this pic

Amp rack in trunk...again, not finished, will be more flush when done.

oh, and since I was at it, I bought the cheapest RCA's I could find, just to prove that you CANNOT hear wire.
-
hehe....back from retirement those amps are...

damn those amps are oldschool....looks pretty good so far chuck

thats gonna add like 150 pounds to your trunk. Wow is it going to sound sweet thoughI removed some other stuff in my car (some under dash bracing, spare tire, jack, etc...) to help offset that somewhat and I realized I don't really care if it adds a few pounds. I'm not going to be, nor do I want to be the fastest car in town. If I wanted incredibly fast 1/4 mile I'd build a 'Cuda or a Supra. If I wanted top handling I'd build an NSX, Elise or S2000. If I wanted a rally car, I'd buy an older 2.5RS two door and do a swap. If I wanted a drift car I'd build a civic (j/k added that to see who is paying attention...in reality I'd build a S14 or AE86). Instead I decided to say Fck it, I'm building a car that I can enjoy!!!* Because isn't that what this "scene" is all about anyway? Building what you like. I'm pretty happy to say that I have a daily driven show car that runs 12-13 second passes and can play ~140db (just guessing here) and also sports a true 5.1 surround sound system.

hmmm, I bet a well trainer ear COULD hear the wireI dunno, I have sound engineers that I work with on a daily basis that always use the lowest price wire that still meets the minimum specs for their jobs...they swear up and down that you cannot hear a difference in wire. As do guys like David Navone, Richard Clark, Nigel Lowe, Tom Gazda, Dave Rivera, Alma Gates, Mark Eldridge, Derek Lee....you know, a bunch of nobodies in the world of car audio.
