Speeding Ticket Question
-
I got cited today for speeding on the way to the track on I-94. The ticket doesn't have a fine listed (I thought it did but it turns out that was the statute number). It also states that I have to go to court. Anyone know what this means? Why is there no option to just pay a fine. I've had tickets before but never one like this.

Is there a fee schedule on the back of the ticket? How about a number to contact the court? If either of those are present, you should be able to pay the fines that they state and go from there.

There is no fine schedule one there at all...that's the weird part. There is no mention of any fine, just a scheduled court date for the end of August. I don't know, maybe I'll end up having to call them.
Anyone know what a 65 in a 55 zone is in MN on the interstate?

yeah my girlfriend got out of a ticket because he mis worded the violationmy ticket had the wrong address on it. Showed it to the judge and the cop said he made a mistake. So it all depends on the judge.

minimum is like 120 now. getting a ticket in minnesota is a big no no. -
i think the reason for no fine is because you are going to get let off. is this your first citation? has anyone else got a ticket without the fine amount on it? or a court date for date for speeding?
if your record is clean i think the judge is going to let you go home with no fine. -
Jason, In minnesota you have to go to the court house before your court date, and tell them you need to pleed guilty. You will sign the back of the ticket pleeding guilty and they'll tell you how much the fine is. It's not like in ND when you oay the ticket BEFORE you even pleed guilty. This is the normal procedure in MN, and the cop didnt mess up. sorry dude!

My wife got her first speeding ticket yesterday as well as you Jason. ( I know this isn't your first) But hers had the fine amount on it along with the court date. If you pay the fine before court, your admitting your guilt and it goes on your record. If you choose to contest it, that's what the court date is for. I'd go to the adress listed on the ticket and ask them. I wouldn't take my chances on this one based on what you told me yesterday. I think it was a statewide crackdown yesterday because they were pulling people over EVERYWHERE!!!! Fuckers.

Jason, you have to call up the MN courthouse. There should be a number on the back of the ticket, or you will have to look it up in the phone book. When you call them, say you got a ticket and want to know the amount due. They'll ask you for some info on the ticket and then they will tell you. When you sign the ticket you no longer have to appear in court, as you have already plead guilty.
Yes the amount is intentionally left blank.

For speeding they give you the fine amount on the spot because its a set amount. For other offenses like exhibition driving etc, they make you call in to get a fine amount. Speeding should be right on the ticket and the cop should have told you...been there done that with police, state patrol, and sheriffs...

So why didn't they put the fine amount on the ticket? I've had speeding tickets in MN before (not recently) and the fine amount was always on the ticket before.
