    having trouble just droped a swaped motor in connect everything, and my charging system is running at 12 volts and under, it should be between 13-15, changed ny alt, cables, disconnected my stereo and still dnt know what to look at???????? any tips

    OH for those who dont know what type of motor its stock chevy 350 74-79 in a 70 nova

      At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

          You "thinks" correctly. Try another alternator. They're cheap for GM's.

            what brand did you put in? I have found that the cheap ones dont last long at all. Get a decent reman AC delco and you'll be set for the life of the vehicle.....hopefully.

                        From my understanding is that with the key on you have 12 volts from batt. through keyswitch to light then to alt. If the alt. is not putting out power then it internally provides a ground, which in turn turns on the light. If the alt is putting out power then you will have 12 volts on boths terminals of the light, which will not turn the light on...

                        This may be diff with the one-wire alt. and chevy wiring.....

                          Yeah the light comes on theres somthing crossed some were i know it either that or a mouse got to some wires while it sat for that pierod of 7months yes indeed i just need to take a day and sit down and do it
