I can do some searching; And find this one I had b4; was just doing some mess'n around I knew no 1 would come to a geocities chat site to talk and stuff.. who knows so that's 2 votes for a live chat..

Fargostreet is soley run by me. I've paid for everything for it.

Yeah, why aren't the sponsors of the board kicking in the money? SLS and Trafik Jamz. They are the advertisers. You can put up two new lifts but can't shell out for some software. All the other boards I'm on accept DONATIONS. Why don't you guys just do that? Of course, people might want a reason to donate. Cause right now, people just get banned and talked down to all the time. Can't figure out why they don't want to contribute.

I'm sure they have updated versions avail. as well.. too some that may work better; so I think.. Haven't look into it much

I've made a profit of $7 since I got my classifieds section...then again remote starter season hasn't really hit yet. I do think that if I pay for a classified section, I should at least be able to moderate what goes on there....would be easy for someone to come on and say "this brand sucks...etc..." If I'm paying, I think I should have some control over it...if I'm not paying, then fine its fair game.

Anyways Jim, most websites are solely run be one person so don't try to be "oh pity me" that's what advertisement is all about. Not difficult to do, not difficult to find, you already got SLS and Tjamz is willing to pay as he stated earlier. I have ran over 10 different websites since the 6th grade, numerous clan sites for various games, all of them used the same kind of forum and in no offense, were much much much more complicated and took much more bandwidth with server bots, stats tracking, integrated chat, and other XML features. What did I do when I needed the extra money to host the servers and the site? I advertised. Not a very complicated concept their partner.
The problem is Jim - people take the banning seriously and have made Fargostreet.com a commitment to check on daily if not hourly. Banning them puts them in a negative mood and creates unwanted drama from the prospect that someone is willing to pay for them to be banned. The notion is alone is unwanted and quite frankly uncalled for. There are much more productive and tactful ways of collecting the afforementioned revenue to upgrade the site as you see fit.

But that's Jim's decision not mine. Also you should have complete control - it is your business afterall.

I agree, I should pay...the problem is I don't make any money ($5 here, $10 there MAX) on the products I sell. Remote starters and any installation stuff is the only place I can make money and the reason I asked Jim for a spot in the first place. The other stuff I could just as well post in the general classifieds here, I make little/no money and don't really care to w/ the product. I'm hoping installations is where the money will be. -

If you think it will pull through come Holiday/Winter season keep it - if it doesnt by say Late Q4 - then you know it's not worth the $$$$. SLS for sure should be paying for it, however I think Jim and SLS has worked something out I imagine with collaboration on Jim's car - which is within Jim's rights as it his site and he does maintain it and pay out of his pocket. But once again, there are much much better more productive ways to make money. This seems like an idea that was pulled out of there ass after one late night of drinking. Doesn't seem to well thought out.....

I'd have to agree w/ drake... Being bann'd means some1 may actually dislike you enough to pay to have you removed. For some a whole week w/o Fargostreet may put em thru Withdrawals (HAHA) I check it frequently, but only when I'm around my laptop to check e-mail, download or play music etc. But if it helps make $$ I can see the point in it.

The only down side is that you started it already; may as well finish it thru the week so people who paid to ban some1 don't get mad.
IMO I think there can be alternative ways to improve the site.. -

I visit this site as much as I can because it's great to have a local site dedicated to the scene. I got into cars starting with my 1989 Cavalier Z24 and got my information from a mailing list, that's right, mailing list, none of this web based forum crap we use today. Anyway, nothing was ever local and the topic always revolved around one car, which was a drag because being I lived in the Midwest it was hard to find other people into the car in the area. So when I finally found this site after getting my Mazda I was elated, finally a local bunch of people I could maybe hang out with, trade ideas and see some cool cars. But instead what I really found was a place filled with bickering and general dislike for the next guy.So like I said, it's great to have a site dedicated to the Fargo car scene but it's too bad it's filled with so much bickering and immature pissing matches. I really wish people would just have fun and stop ragging on people because they don't run a DSM/Honda.
Now we have this Ban-A-Member which is NOT fun and will only cause more strife between members. Many of the other sites I frequent have a special icon you get when you donate to the site. Maybe a method of raising money that is encouraging could be implemented instead
