Well for the 4th time in the last 6 months my tranny broke. It origanlly was just the torque converter broke. They rebuilt it. Then It broke. They rebuilt it...... yep it broke. This happened one more time 2 months ago and then again this morning on the way to school. The first time was my fault due to me being an idiot. But when it happened this morning it was right off of a stop sign pulling onto 13th. avenue. I took off like normally and then my car slipped into neutral and starting making the highest pitch screech. Now I have no tranny. A $120 towing bill. And no mode of transportation. So What I was wondering is if anyone has had there transmission rebuilt anywhere? What shops do good work? And is it even worth being rebuilt a 4th time? Should I just replace it?

FWIW: Fargo Transmission has been the one doing all the work.

I'd definitely recommend A-1 also. They do excellent work.

Take it back to them, talk to a manager and ask him what its gonna take so this doesn't happen again.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall
Torque is how far you take the wall with you

I reccomend A-1 transmission. I just brought them my bronco today because of a bad shift solinoid (or however you spell it). I have never had a problem with their work and they stand by it.

This is the car you were trying to sell? If so why was there no mention of the tranny problems it has had?

I know exactly what solenoid you are talking about. I had to replace the TCC solenoid in my Explorer. They are actually pretty easy to change, its just a daunting job if you've never done it before.

Yes it is. I did mention it had a rebuilt tranny. And when I made that post my car had just gotten fixed and it was working perfect.

I think Ill probably just take it to A-1 Transmission since it sounds pretty credible.
