so with this cage certified to 7.50 how much more power is needed to make up for the added weight of it?

how much does it stiffen the car to better transfer power to the ground?
and any other info would be cool too.

Turbo5Oh: I'd love to have a turbo'd 10.5w Mustang! 🙂 I looked into it before I started with the black car, and it's just way too expensive. You can't use any of the stock Mustang parts, you have to replace basically everything. I don't like the idea of having to spend $15k+ on just the engine.

musthavemuzk: The cage is chromoly so it's not terribly heavy, bit still does add some weight, and a fair amount of rigidity as you said. How much extra HP to push that weight? I dunno.

As far as the Mustang goes, something like this would be really cool. 🙂

thats a sweet pic, and true as it gets. also i have read that it takes anywhere from 15hp for a regular bar, up to around 80-90hp to move a full cage down the track. BUT the side benefits are lowering your 60's 1 or 2 tenths and easily making up for the difference. At any rate, i dont see it being too hard to get an 8.50 et out of this car once its set up.

The car is down on it's wheels! w00t w00t! The front end is sitting up high because there isn't much weight up there yet. It needs to come down about 3" or so.

Gary: Interesting HP stats. I sure hope 8.50's will be in the ballpark this year.

Good F-bombs with a heavy outpouring of S type words, that just brings a tear to my eye. Man I've had a lot of time off lately so if you need someone to comeover and hold some brackets while you weld them in place or just to watch you work give me a call. Seriously.

Bill: Yes, tubeless with screws.... lots and lots of screws.

Schultzy: I just bring over boxes of parts and take pictures, Laske is doing all the work. Once I get the car home I could use some help plumbing, wiring, etc. 🙂

thanx Gary for the HP numbers.
i thought so is why i mentioned it, that the rigidness would easily outweigh the added weight.

can't wait to get some pics of this bad boy in action.
hopefully you and Matt run side by side so i can get some pics of that too.
