cleaning ceiling in car?

you can clean many of the newer headliners with a carpet cleaning machine, but you cannot use hot water as it separates the foam and glues. just use some cold water and maybe some light soap and dab at it with a cloth otherwise to get out what you can. also taking it out of the car really wont help any so dont waste your time. I would ask kevin about this as well. one other thing i have done on really light colors is a light mix of peroxide, about 30%, and water, and spray it on the cloth with a spray bottle. this will bleach out many dark colors, and is the best way to remove blood as well. but make sure you test any method out in a hidden area before going on with it, and wait 2-3 min to make sure it doesnt bleach the fabric out too far.

yeah yeah thats what i meant!
yeah the headliner is grey....its not really a fabric either...its more of a stitched material....i scrubbed it with dish soap and warm water for awhile...it cleaned some up but mostly spread it out and made it a lighter color...i guess i'll keep working on it.

lol, there is no foam in the ceilings of our cars. pretty much a liner then the roof.
Try takin a little carpet cleaner, and if you can get ahold of a steamer or extractor, have at it.

i have a steamer i was gonna try that next....the ceiling pretty much seems like a piece of cardboard.

You're gonna have to pull the headliner down to clean it.I have cleaned 100's of head liners and NOT once have we had to remove the headliner to clean it.. The best way for a diy'er is to buy some foam cleaner and spray it up there and use a damp rag and rub it clean .. or pay a detail shop to clean it wit the right tools.

I know its been a month or so since the last post and you probably have got the headliner cleaned, but I'll throw in my 2 cents! Theres this stuff called Crazy Clean. It comes in a red & white can. You can get it at Berg Fargo Motor auto parts store over by Wheels) Its about $3 or $4. Its an all purpose cleaner that is gentle on all surfaces & works really well! You just spray on a nice mist and wipe the area a few times with a clean rag. I detail with it all the time!
