I've got a vid of a guy with the same turbo set up on his car. You wouldn't be able to hid that for long. The bov had no engine comp to muffle it. ( it was REAL LOUD).

there is a guy who did the same setup on his F150 v6 and he didnt like it at all..he then built a front mounted turbo and is much happier..the air filter on the sts kit is located under the vehicle..that cant be good

well then dave, if you've seen dyno sheets.... what do those kits pick up for power? See them every once and a while, but everyone's usually had good things to say about that style of kit. Just seems like I"ve never seen a that style of setup make a whole lot of power... (only turbo setup done on a late model 4.6L Tbird was a rear setup like that....only made low-mid 200RWHP IIRC [up from probably 180 stock])
I think the HP went up about 150rwhp. The magazine got ~458rwhp and 511rwtq at 7 psi of boost (from memory).

well, on the plus side, the exhaust is a lot shorter than most drag-only cars... but i don't think that's the best idea for driving around here, especially with a car. with a truck, i think it would be a good idea, could use a huge turbo, like dave mentioned.
i'll do some looking around, i remember seeing a post about a guy that was using two t25's to boost his 3.8 fbody (i think it was a 98?)

LS1's are fast stock so adding a turbo will inevitably add ass loads of horsepower.

Im probly picking up a 00 WS6 this weekend, Twin turbo v8 project here I come:)

Yeah what is up wiht the filter replacing an exhaust tip, that will look funky.. also think of all the dirt off the dusty roads here in n. dakota getting thrown off the tire rigth onto that poor filter.

The filter is definitely in a tough spot, but it does come with that K&N baggy thing over it to protect it. You could get some black plastic sheet and make a guard for the filter pretty easily.

Most LS1's dyno about 300 rwhp stock for an M6 and 280-290 for an A4. With this setup, I should be able to get about 470-490 rwhp @ 8 psi, which is really about all you want to run until a forged bottom end is installed. I got the GT-67 upgrade from the base 60-1, so I should have plenty of potential if I go that route. 😄 I think I'm going to wind up re-oiling that K&N every oil change, though.

plumb it into the trunk/hatch/whatever and run a small scoop in the trunk lid 🙂

What's up Austin? This is Lucas, fellow ME student/graduating senior at NDSU. I'm sure your car is going to be fun. Are you staying in the area? i.e. will you be brining that baby out to Sabin this summer? Hopefully my engine/tranny will stay together long enough after I finish the SC project to get a few good runs in at least. I'm not even done with my 94', but have already been looking at compressor maps for a turbo for my 96'. I just took a job in DL, so I will still be close enough to Sabin to get out to most of the events next summer. Hopefully this next summer will be bigger and better that last summer. I think this town is slowing moving from complete rice to a slight more performance oriented crowd. Don't hold me to that statement though.

Hello. Congratulations on the job! I'm trying to get a job in the area here, and I'll definitely be out at Sabin. It'll be cool to see that SC project finally run. Comparing the turbo and S/C cars should be interesting.
