Drift/Grip at Mid-America?
-
Quoted from another site:
looks like i will be in South Dakota for at least the summer that means I am more willing to put on drift events. I can get an event on at Mid America motorplex, however it will cost alot. Since I am not in this sport for personal monetary gain i will tell everyone the costs to just hold the event, anything beyond basically goes in the bank to help fund future events so.
MAM
insurance/USdrift fee-525
Mid america track rental fee--4,000 which includes ambulance, corner workers, and all the other things needed for a track event- BTW this is a "special deal" haso if we can get 35 drivers thats about 130 dollars each driver so you can do the math its simple enough less drivers equal we need to pay more, more drivers equals less money. so whom all would be in
BTW no excuses I would have to drive 10 hours or so to make the event. I do know I can get six guys for sure 4 from rapid and two from SF (joel and a couple grip guys). Coming to one of these events would also seperate the real drivers from the guys whom just talk shit on here.
it would be held in the fall late august probably and I think a 50 driver cap would be in order
whose down. I want a name or something posted up. if we get enough I am down I WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN, no shit. HOWEVER PREPAYMENT IS A MUST, this cuts down on flakers, unfortunatly theres alot of those out there.
to sum it up
where: mid america motorplex in omaha NE
when: August-Sept 2007
cost: 130? btw this is a steal for a road course
driver cap: 50Make it happen!

Cool!
What would be the format of a drift event at MAM? I ran a friends hachi-roku there and the 9/10/11 (or 8/9/10, i don't remember) complex could be drifted continuously in that car (but what cant?), but i don't know where else on the track you'd do it?
$130 is a steal for any kind of track time. I'm surprised you can get MAM for $4000... i'd rather do 20 people @ $200

Im down for sure.

Come on silly there is no skill involved with drifting....:icon_geek:

I'd be down for a grippy event. Maybe I'm misreading it, but there is no exact date yet, right?
And yea, 130$ for a day o racing isn't much.

Sounds good to me. Just keep us posted on when it's going down. I know for sure I'll drag the Fiero out to beat on it.

-
I assume it's more of a Time Attack setup, correct?
I'm interested. Got my helical diff. now.

$130 is a STEAL for an open day of racing. I don't know the track layout, but so you guys get an understanding, a typical NASA-sponsored HPDE event at Road Atlanta runs just short of $300 per entry.

Here is an update:
I have not chosen a date but the 15th of sept is looking like the date
Cost is 140 a driver/car
we will allow grip or drift. sessions of 1/2 and 1/2 maybe done unless there is group with more of a showing in which case the times may be altered.
