My brother-in-law's 2004 Mazda 3 engine just blew. We can turn the engine over by hand about a half-turn forward and a half-turn backward, then it stops HARD. Timing chain is intact. Probably broken rod or something. Not good. Only 60k mi and has been driven nicely, so not sure why this happened.
So I NEED a used 2.3L I4 engine for a 2004 Mazda 3 (manual). I haven't looked yet at what years are interchangeable, but I'm guessing the Mazda 6 with the 2.3 is the same engine.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Are there other good pc interfaces out there for under $200? Is there any good software that can give you tuning capabilities? I looked a little online but there's a lot of BS out there - looking for someone with first-hand advice.
