I may get up there, otherwise for sure BIR! But not with the GTP, I'll be bringing the TT. Last year I burned the torque converter up, put in a 2500 stall, trans cooler, yanked the A/C, 65# injectors, a 2.9pulley, and found out that I must have burned a lot more than the TC, so there she sits in the garage. I am actually looking at unloading the GTP since I have lost my interest in it.

Owning and modding 2 GTPs thus far, I have a lot to be thankful for, my knowledge of motors and concepts have greatly improved, I have had a ton of fun with friends while building my second GTP, made some great friends cruising around in it, racing it, and have turned a lot of heads on the street with some great kills and show of preformance! For what it is, a 3700lb car, running 13.1 on street tires, no I/C, maxed out stock injectors, and burned torque converter, I think it is somewhat impressive. Even tho I personally think I have spent way too much for the gains, it's about the passion of cars, the hobby, and having plain FUN!

It's a great daily driver, family car, that can hang with the big dogs and even beat them, ask the guy in town with a 2005 Vette that I raced twice with a load of lumber in the car. It was nice seeing the yellow in the rear view! To be able to somewhat hang with a 97 Supra and 72 Detomaso Pantera GT up to 140mph is impressive I think.

Who cares what people choose to mod or join the car hobby with, it's about what they like, and a way to show off who they are. You wear Vans, I wear Doc Martins, you mod a Honda, I mod a Pontiac. It really doesn't matter as long as you have fun!

Hey thanks, the shift kit firms shifting up, quicker shifts, saves clutch life, and runs cooler. Right now I am having some serious tuning issues, think it's all in my MAF tables, and for some reason only running 4lbs of boost max, which is 1/3rd of what I should be, so I got some diagnosing ahead of me.

If you have the $ get yourself and SSEi and then put an LS1 in there, RWD 6 speed!!! A little while ago on Ebay I think there was a 99 or so GTP with that exact swap in there running 9s, looked really funky with big meats on the rear!

Um it use to be PhantomFE3s, but I got it from him, the tranny was not fried. Infact, he had it way over full in the tranny fluid department, causing the the fluid to foam up, thus allowing the TQ to disengage. I dropped the pan, the fluid in it obviously, replaced the filter, and topped her off correctly, and it drives no problem.

I am not PhanotmFE3, that's Dave, not me.

I listed what made the Phantom "so special".

Very rare! 200 ever made. Bought it with intentions on restoring it, but due to my divorce it will never happen, since my ex-brother inlaw was my auto restoration guy and I may be moving away eventually. It's been in storage since I bought it.

It runs and drives, has 160,xxx miles, but it has almost 3 year old gas.... Tires are shot, and are impossible to use on the road.

Door handles are the infamous problematic type, open from the top down on the side of the doors. Both do not work from the outside, the drivers side doesnt work at all, the passenger from the inside.

    Interior needs work.

Hood latch inside is busted, didn't feel like getting dirty to open the hood, but evreything is underneath!

    Has remote start.

Exterior needs work. The GFX is in the trunk, it's fiberglass, needs some work, but nothing that cannot be fixed. The trunk won't open at the moment with the key, it use to before I put it in storage, I have not tried to force it too much, I don't care.

It has the 3.1 engine, before storage I dropped the trans pan and replaced the filter, gasket, and fluid that came out.

The hood is new when I got it, primed, needs to be painted. I do have a parts car that might still be available for the exterior pieces that need replacement (Both rear 1/4s, and rocker panels) I told my ex bro inlaw he can scrap the car instead of me taking it back to my place, I am sure he still has it.

The rear brake lines are shot, I have some new brake components in the car in the boxes as well as some parts from the parts car, various stuff.

    What makes the Phantom special?

Total restoration project for something so unique! From internet searching a few years ago, I am the only one West of the Mississippi that owns one, no idea how many are actually on the road. There was rumer that there was a black one in Fargo ND, but never confirmed.

Own a unique project for $1000

  • Put new wheels on my GTP that I got from a guy on here
    S Skipponator

Going with either VS or XP cam, full I/C, prolly ZZP StageII, headers (most likely TOGs), ported blower, Nherbst pulley system, 3" DP, 3" cat, no-ubend, Qtec electric cutout at the Y, intercooled intake (need the piping, got the 9" K&N already), MSD 8.5mm wires(have), SLP LS-1 MAF(have), K&N breather(have), DHP PowrTuner(on the way). Have a beefy swaybar and poly bushings laying up stairs, will swap that over when I drop it. Think that sums it up at the moment.

Yes, tint is coming once I strip off the crappy tint off the rear, then the GTP badging is coming off, it's getting dropped 1.8", differnt tips are going on, brake components are getting painted black, have tinted tails coming as well as gunmetal altezzas (we'll see which looks better), driver side headlight cover is coming, havn't put my tinted plate covers on yet, but I got them. It'll be pretty dark.

Forgot his screen name, but here is the GTP I bought a month ago from a kid in Moorhead, I have big plans for this, and have begun my mod shopping, will take some time though, but shooting for yanking the engine out in a few weeks. Got some goodies sitting in my mod room waiting to go on.

  • Hi there!
    S Skipponator

Well Monty I thought about another GTP, but I want something different and driving around my bud's Spyder was fun! The Phantom was a model only 200 ever made, originally only on he East Coast. They came in only white or black, has specific ground effects which I do have, I need to have them professionally restored, has special decaling, special spoiler, FE3 sport suspesnsion and badging, as well as a brass plaque with a small Oldsmobile emblem on it signifying 1 of 200. Has the 3.1, however I was thinking of swapping in a 3.1 IC Turbo, even though they have exhuast manifold issues, it would still be sweet and pretty much a direct drop in. Auto only, has complete digital dash. From history searching I am the only one west of the Mississippi that has one, even though I heard rumors there was a black one rolling around Fargo a few years ago, that has not been confirmed.

That's a bit about the Phantom. I wsa looking at Jim's Eclipse, a buddy showed it to me, I'd love to check it out, however I don't want to get my self something lined up until 2 things are completed, 1. I get my title back from the state on my truck, no one wants to buy a truck w/o a title...... 2. Wait for my divorce to go through from my cheatin' spouse, which should be in the next couple weeks, I don't want to make any deals until that over for obvious reasons. I'd also consider trading my truck........

So that's where I sit now,

  • Hi there!
    S Skipponator

Hey there, just wanted to say hi, I plan on soon to be purchasing a Eclipse GS-T Spyder (If I can find a purple or white one with a camel top) or consider a hard top within the next month or so. Currently I drive a 2000 GMC Sierra Newstyle 2500 4x4 with the 6.0L in black. With gas prices and life changing events I want to get something better on the fuel consumption and back into the car hobby again. I also have a 1989 Cutlass Supreme Phantom, 1 of 200 ever made that I had planned on restoring, but I think that dream is gonna go down the drain (long story), but I do plan on yanking it out of storage in the next week or so and may drive it around a bit. Some of my past hobby cars were a 1995 Monte Carlo Z34 which can be seen here:

Anyhow, I fell in love with a friend's Spyder, and now I need one 🙂 So I am keeping my eye open and excited to learn something new!
