Awesome, I love the 'tex. I drive a black MKIV GTi 1.8t, only some minor stuff done so far. What do you drive?

Vwmofowelcome, then! i'm Pat. you post on the vortex?

blow off valvemy diverter valve (like a BOV except dumps the air back into the intake after the MAF) sounds nifty

Crazy Video!seen that before. fucking nuts. i dont get why the goped guy isnt wearing full leathers for that kind of stunt. hit a small pebble or some shit on the road you'd be fucking hamburger at that speed in a tshirt and shorts. he's got some balls i guess. everyone should watch that video. right now.

TRUE cold air intakeI'd be more worried about the effects of sun/bugs/excess road crap/water with it in that location. plus it looks rather homogay imho....

HelloLooked at the yellow focus a few times at the ford dealership. How do those duals out the center of the back sound?

TRUE cold air intakefound this gem on the vortex. it's brilliant. absolutely brilliant.

WeaponR secret weaponSo i was interneting and came across the weapon R secret weapon intake. check it...I know an intake is an intake isn an intake pretty much, but what do you all think of the concept behind the weapon r? valid? I haven't been able to find any dyno charts for it on any cars, but its a pretty interesting design.
description from weapon R:
"The Secret Weapon Intake Systems is an result of countless hours of testing and tuning of air intake velocity, Airmass and Airspeed for each vehicle application. The Result, an intake system that performs better than any Cold Air Intake, but with a Short Ram. It is possible by Weapon*R's Patent Pending Speed Velocity theory, By creating a higher airspeed in the intake path you increase airmass and airspeed, which greatly increase horsepower.
This is possible by Creating two different paths of airflow, both flowing at different airspeeds, due to the tubing diameter in which the air is traveling. Now when the 2 different paths of air meet, they create a vacuum, which is where the airspeed starts to multiply, forcing more air into the engine at a higher rate, creating more horsepower."

Slow Cars....but the slow cars thread is so awesome....

Slow Cars....what I said at the race was "VW rates it at 174hp at the weels, somewhere around 200at the crank." How am I changing my story? The 12v VR6 in 2001 and older cars makes 174hp, the new VR's (2002 and up) have a 24valve head and make 200hp at the wheels. I drove the older variety.

No, must not have been you. The driver said his was a 200hp one. He one the first race, but lost pretty bad the second time around. He even insisted that vw rates their cars at the wheels. Ya, sure they do...We beat a 12 valve one like yours with exhaust and intake by a good 3-4 cars at 80 the other night. When the cop went to pull us over that basturd kept on going and got away. Fudge should have left him behind.
Left to right (from the driver's perspective) it went white prelude, silver VW, black tiburon, it was on 13th avenue going west, right before or at the intersection before I-29. believe me, i was the VW guy.
I said it had 174hp at the wheels, about 200 at the crank. Assume somewhere in the neighborhood of 13-15% driveline loss and the crank number roughly equals 200. I dont doubt you beat a VR6 around 80mph, they're a much more powerful, torquey motor down low than in the high rpm's...was it a current body style (MK4) or older? I've seen a black lowered MK3 GTi VR6 running around with a dual-tip exhaust, was that the one?

It's kinda funny I saw this moron talk shit when my bro's prelude sh lost to a 2003 golf vr6. Course he had nothin to saw when they both got toasted at the next stoplight. He's gonna need that 10 warranty. Don't know why he's talking about 300whp. Hmm, the alpine supercharger kit only only adds 40hp. I can't think of any other car with a 2.7 liter engine that makes less power. A fricken intrepid makes 200!!!
He can't drive either saw him cut a few people off and almost cause an accident. And the green neon is gay also.
I was driving the VR6 GTi, traded that off. It was a 2001 with 174hp and the 12valve head and I still beat the SH with (unless I'm mistaken? Maybe..) 195hp. The new VR6's have a 24valve head and make 201hp. Anyways if the SH and my Vdub meet, let's go again. That was a fun race.

Slow Cars....forgot to add that those numbers for a 2004 tiburon with 181hp are for the 6spd manual http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Spec_Glance.aspx?modelid=11005&trimid=98310&src=VIP

Slow Cars....No fast cars? Hyundai's only then? ::rimshot:: Anyways, let's talk numbers. Going to beat an S2000? An '01 S2000 runs 0-60 in 5.5 and the quarter in 14.1 @ 99.6mph. Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 (stock of course) will pull a 0-60 of 7.94 seconds and the quater in 16.42 @ 88.6mph. Not doubting that given enough money the Tiburon could be a real fireball, but smoking a stock S2000 (keep in mind that the new cars are a 2.2liter with more torqure as opposed to the 2001's 2.0liter) may be setting your sights a bit high. When can we expect to see the forced induction tiburon running around?
