Hmm, without seeing/feeling it first hand I would say to check the following:

-Vacuum/boost leaks
-Spark plugs

spark plugs would be your best bet to start, my eclipse did what sounds to be the same thing. I wouldnt know for sure because i havent seen/ riddin in the car but if i had to guess thats where i would start.

well, first off call the guy you bought it from and ask him if he has the same problem...

could be.

1. plugs are fouled - evo's run rich
2. boost leak - check all the hose connections, vac lines
3. plug wires..
4. any check engine lights on?
5. does it only miss under a boosted load? Can you free rev it past 5500?
