What requirements are different during non-street legal events?

You have to pass tech. Battery tie down, overflow, helmet if you're in the 13s, etc.

          Is there a tire requirement?

No there is not a tire rule.

Battery relocation to trunk requires an NHRA approved battery box (Moroso blue box is our box of choice), NHRA approved cut off switch, and that the battery box is vented to the outside of the vehicle if it is a hatchback.

When you wire the kill switch up, it must kill the vehicle. What this means is the alternator needs to be wired to the battery directly all the way in the rear of the vehicle.

                K,

For how my battery is currently hooked up.

I have the original positive cable hooked up to a jumper post. On the back side of the jumper post is where the power wire goes to my battery. So, its like a extension. Would I need to run a seprate wire from the positive of the alternator to the battery?

And should the cutoff switch should be in the possitve cable?

                PM me for:

Correct. The switch needs to be inline on the power side of the battery.

Basically it should look like this:

                  BATTERY -------- ALTERNATOR
                  |-------- SWITCH --------------- EVERYTHING ELSE

                    Thanks,

Do you think that wired right? Just need to do the approved battery box, with vent, and a approved switch?

                    and recomendations for the switch?

this is what I was looking at:

I would actually recommend the flaming river switch. It's a push off style switch.

Oh also, you need to clearly label the switch. If you do the flaming river you need a sticker that says "push off".

I plan on making a bracket that is held in Via closing the hatch so i dont have the switch out all the time. or would this not pass tech?

The car is still driven all the time in the summer, dont want to deal with dumbasses pushing it all the time

Just mount it and don't worry about it. If it doesn't start go pull the switch back out. 😉

The switch has to be permanently mounted.

DAMN. I'll have to figure something out, under the plate or something and take the plate off

wow, no street legals is gonna suck. No street legals=no Dragstrip for me. pretty sad when you can drive to marion and back plus race for only $5 more. This place is so overpriced i would rather go to Brainerd or Marion. Only reason i went in the first place was cause the Tintmasters events brought the price down to a reasonable level. They need to wake up and lower the prices if they want it to stay open.

A lot of guys will mount the (turn style) switch behind the license plate and remove it for track. The push-off one, I mounted mine below the tail light. If I want I can remove the rod...

brainerd gets 3-4 times the number of people that IDR does. the prices reflect this because it costs the same to run the tracks (give or take)

well anyone that has ever taken an economics course will understand that lower prices=higher volume and more total revenue. could you imagine the amount of cars they would have there if they were to do a $20 friday night test and tune only? Thats what we did in TX and the lanes were ALWAYS full. The problem is they dont do any night stuff like that. 5pm-1am and sometimes until 2-3am, if there was a good turnout and alot of grudge races going on. As soon as the friday night events started the owner started making a profit, and a big one at that. 5 bucks to watch and 20 to race, they have to do it and see if it works or close the place. the regulars that go every week for $40-60 arent gonna support it forever and most guys i know, my friends for example, if we are each going to spend $60 for test and tune we will spend $100 and go to brainerd for the weekend.
On a side note, if its because of the size of the track and such, Marion is the same size and same population base, look at the prices there once, taken from the Marion site:
