Shep has been running 9's and now mid 8s with not a single reliability problem other than breaking a valve spring and killing one turbo last season. He has yet to break a diff, tranny, axle or T-case. Not bad for over 5 years with the same car. Sounds like some DSM owners need to talk to him and find out why he doesn't breaking making well over 850awhp and racing at every event.

I rarely have break downs with my DSMs. While they only may run mid12 to high 11s, I still have yet to break a diff.

like i mentioned when i was at sls this afternoon, i havne't run into any big problems with my dsm... but i'm not anywhere near where buschur, marsh and shepherd are

doesn't shep also rebuild his tranny ever couple of events too?

From last time I talked to him.....once a season unless he feels it's getting fussy. And considering that he is sponsored, and must make appearences at just about every event.....he also has to keep his car intact.

how about this... jim's crx w/b18c5 (assuming he does buy it) will be faster than most of us from a roll (unless he figures out how to launch) with less hp than we all have. it's all power:weight

i'd probably build a honda if i didn't have a dsm; there are so many options for engines, chassis, trannies, etc
however, i think it might be nice to find a sohc saturn that doesn't burn oil and boost it with a small turbo, would make for a quick (200hp/2300lb) daily driver that's dirt cheap, gets good mileage, and doesn't get a second glance from law enforcement
