    and charging cycles etc...

If your just at home, just leave it plugged in. Mine still lasts quite a while but I rarely unplug it from the wall.

If you have a warranty, they will still replace it within 1.5years...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Mine usually never uses battery power. Only on trips is when I actually use the battery which is once a month max.

My battery on my old laptop is useless, if it isnt plugged in the comp wont work. My current laptop is pretty much always on the charger unless its getting moved.

From what I understand, if you leave your battery in your laptop and just use A/C power most of the time, it hurts your battery. If you just use your laptop at home and don't need it, keep your battery out and it'll last longer.

Most modern laptops will not continue to charge the battery after its fully charged.... They simply switch to AC Power.

Think of a UPS... same concept.

I have had my Gateway laptop for more than 18 months now, and my battery is fine. I only use my battery whenever I'm at school, otherwise it's always plugged in at home. Ideally, you are suppose to charge the battery only when its almost empty. Same concept with cellphone's batteries.
