Engine "surges"

clutch is slipping. i had the same thing happen to me last spring and all the material on the clutch had worn away and it wasnt catching.

I think his car is an auto. My Accord used to do something similar when the stock auto tranny was slipping. After driving the car for a couple miles it would stop. Does your car stop slipping after you've driven it a little bit? -
if thats happening. try letting the car get warmed up, not engine temp, that can warm up but you tranny will not with out use. Drive like a granny for the first 10min or so. Sounds like tranny slipping. Do you accelerate at all when the RPMs were dropping?
hey, I may have a NA 5-speed z31. car has not moved in at least 3 years. But should be ok drivetrainwise

i thought if you flush a auto trans that has alot of miles on it, you can take of the varnish or w/e. and it will just slip more or even worse just stop working.
thats what i have been told

i have never heard of this. interesting

In imports the clutch packs wear out faster than normal and the material in the fluid will clog some passeges in the valve body and will cause it to slip at higher rpm's.
