Police Searches

^^^Exactly, they need probable cause to search your backpack. Just because there's parties and you have a backpack doesn't mean you have alcohol in it. Same goes for vehicles, so if you are underage or over 21 for that fact and have booze in the car make sure it's in the trunk. They can only "legally" look for things that are in plain site.

Don't consent to a search. Maybe you are bringing your books over to a friend's house to study? Now if you are plastered drunk, it's a different story. On another note, where is everybody this weekend? I took a 5-10 minute cruise around campus and didn't see hardly anyone.
I was surprised as well, there wasnt nearly the amound of people that i thought would be out being that it was rush week.

Thanks for the advice guys. I dont really backpack it. I actually have a camelbak thats holds 70 oz of deliciousness! Do the same rules still apply? I was walking on campus last night and walked right out in front of a police car because he stopped so i could cross the street and he did not seem to mind or not notice the camelbak. I havent had any problems yet but just in case i would like to know what my options are!

well as far as i remember from crim law class, no they do not have authority to just randomly stop and search your bag as that would be an unreasonable search. unless you consent or you give them reason to believe you are carrying something illegal they dont have authority to search you.obvisouly dont remember much. cant even spell crime right

In general, you shouldn't say anything to the cops.

and remember, dont say "fuck you" but instead say "fuck the police." They can't do anything about it.Gotta love political statements

actually you can straight up tell them "fuck You". i talked to a cop about this. as their occupation; they are held to a higher standard and are made to take the ridicule they get. they cannot give you a harassment charge or be offended by it in any means.
thats first hand from a fpo
