then why do you want a turbo fwd car? I believe you are after something like Drifterextremes setup. In which case there is NO reason for a built motor, especially if you are on a tight budget... Seems like you have no problem dishing out 250-350 for rods but you cant spend more than 50 bucks for a turbo?because i eventually want that higher hp but right now i cant. dont u think that it makes more sense to spend the money to build the inside first? i do....

i had just a bit over 300 hp and my didnt hook on the street lol if you buy some small meathooks you will be fine. also what kind of clutch are you gonna use?i believe it has a act stage 1 in it. i havent pulled that motor to c yet. may use that if still good condition..

Look into the 20g that would be a fun turbo for the street. But i think those are still mitsu flanged so you would need a new manifold if youd wanna run something different in the future.
And in that case i think you have a perfect motor for what you want. A cost effective build that will handle 450hp if tuned correctly. Prolly gonna wanna get a little beefier clutch tho.

Almost any other application is just going to run into diff problems and costly clutch swaps with that power to get even close to what hes looking for.
He spent money where money should be spent, on the motor. Those rods can be had for 220 dollars. More than likely itll handle power alot better over time then matts 4 door . So he spent an extra 400 dollars on his rebuild for some extra insurance, sounds like a good idea to me.
And i think if his power goals are rreally as low as he says than the 14b or 16g turbo would be perfect for him, no reason to knock tried and true 200-300 horsepower turbos even if they arent super stupid expensive.

Woaaa dont get all defensive the only reason why you are involved at all with anything i said was becuase i fucking agreed with you. I was saying that for other people like travis who seemed confused by the idea of someone using a 50 trim and making more power than 270hp.But im glad that you also know what i know, and that you feel the need to throw around dimensions and basic math i already knew about your useless fucking turbo. Any one can use google and tell you your in./ex. Diameters, congrats
stop trying to sound so smart by telling people the small about about basic shit that you know
You were calling me out, insinuating I was using trim to differentiate the size of turbos...... as bigger or smaller
I only clearly pointed out that different turbos use different characteristics to name them........... and that in this case it was trim that was used
Obviously I looked up the wheel specs of both to illustrate my point....
Since you are so well endowed with the understanding of turbo dynamics will you please help me size the optimum turbo for my setup???........ please master

the 20g will not be good for his setup right now as i beleave it has a tdo6 compressor wheel and housing? correct me if i'm wrong zac. 1 full size up from the 14b which uses the tdo5 housing, that with the 1 step up turbine wheel and a 10cm turbine housing vs the normal 6 or 7cm turbine housing would slow spool-up, conciderabley.
again with a built bottom end he is capable of running higher boost to compensate for the low compression.
so i don't see how this is a bad set up. he has room to upgrade and it will be plenty fun at the 200-240 whp range with a nice torque curve.
