What do you think of a 1982 v45 magna 750cc?

Because it is, you are a foolish child as every single one of us telling you this is a bad idea once were. Most of us are in that magic point of life where you start to see things the way our parents did/do, and guess what slick it actually makes sense. Turns out my mother was always right, it's like she had made those same decisions years ago, weird. You may be perfectly capable of operating a motorcycle, but dirt bikes and an R1 are completely different animals. Even compared to your V45 an R1 is a goddamn rocket ship.

Well wish i could QUOTE so i could refer to something earlier in this thread and not confuse you guys.. But no DJ you have never told me or JN210 that you have drove crotch rockets before. For starters i doubt you ever have. Especially something even close to the power of a R1. That thing makes you bike look like a bitch.

Seventeen and you want a liter bike... That has bad idea all over it. I worked for several motorcycle dealerships between here and when I was in Phoenix and I have seen too many young guys buy sport bikes and end up dead. A few good friends too.. But do what you wish, just don’t ride like a jack ass and get fucked up. Oh yeah... think about full coverage insurance on a R1 for a 17 year old too... Unless mommy and daddy are paying it, you’re stuck with your V45. But if you get a sport bike, send me a message once you lay it down because I buy wrecked bikes.
As for your V45 there is not much you can do to get more power out of them. You really do not want to run that engine all that hard either because they are known for wearing cam chain tensioners and cam chain guides… So if it rattles on deceleration and idle that’s the problem… Also they did not line bored the cam journals on the 1983 and earlier v45 heads, so they eat up cams and cam journals over time. Just ride it and enjoy the fact you have a motorcycle to ride. -
