Anybody donate plasma?

yeah i have been going there for about a year now, its not the greatest thing in the world but it is easy money and you dont have to do anything really just lay back and relax, yeah it took me a good 2 weeks before i finally got in for a physical. like it was said before as long as you dont have a problem with needles you will be just fine, oh yeah, or blood to, cuz you see ALOT of that.

The better hydrated you are the less time it will take. definatly drink plenty of water and a meal before you go. i go to the one in moorhead because you dont have to make an appointment. if you go to the one in moorhead thats not biolife be prepared because your first time will take about 3 hours due to physical and paperwork. but i am usually in and out in a hour.

yeah i have donated over a year now and i can finally go back this wednesday due to being defered for 8 weeks because of 2 red blood cell losses within 8 weeks of each other... so for just a warning you might want to have a phlebotomist that has been poking people for quite a few months poke you because for my 1st cell loss a new phleb poked me with the needle and totally missed my vein and the machine quit and wasnt able to return my blood cells. then on christmas eve a phleb that has been there for awhile hooked up the lines on the machine really tight and so when the machine would be running it was tearing away at the lines and wore a hole in a line and so then again i didnt get my red blood cells back... so that was my 2nd time in 8 weeks i lost red blood cells... so now i can finally go back.. but it is a really easy way of making 65 bucks a week for beer or gas whatever.. bring your laptop they have wireless internet, ipod anything they let you bring... i have fallen asleep there several times and they just give you 1 warning to stay awake or they will disconnect you...

Because yes, if you don't pump your hand/make a fist every 2 mins or so the pressure on you arm will drop so that the machine will not work properly and will turn off, and can cause air embolism.
But that doesn't mean anything, listen to dubbsy, he knows everything and is neat. -
I used to do it all the time at Biolife, about 4 years worth. I was permanently deferred for testing out of whack for some liver enzyme, I had never tested bad for anything ever not even elevated levels of any of the stuff they test for. So I asked if it could have been the test? She said yes, So I asked if I could take it again, She said NO. Gay!! My personal best was 38 minutes in and out, and they took 800mL from my big ass.
PS where is the one in Moorhead, maybe I'll go over there and start doing it again.

Fact is - you said you lose blood pressure in your arm when you fall asleep. If you lost blood pressure in your arm every time you fell asleep you'd have gangrene and wouldn't have a limb to donate blood from. The fact is - falling asleep simply removes you from the task of artificially inflating the arterial pressure in the arm that is giving blood - artificial pressure that - yes - is necessary to push evacuate blood from the body and into the machine. Any drop (but never loss - unless the limb is removed or you've died) in blood pressure - which will be minimal at best - from falling asleep is purely coincidental and likely due to the decrease in stress. -
And yes, I was donating quite a bit for a while there. Got bored and lacked ambition to go every day (and got to the point I hated being tied to a machine for an hour and a half) so I haven't been back in nearly a year.
I'd just say bring a laptop and watch your favorite TV show. Easiest way to pass time with one hand free.
