Best club is a collaboration of all the judges thoughts. We try and find judges that aren't affiliated with a club, but that becomes hard, and if I feel that someone is being unrealistic with a vote for 'their' club, their vote will not count. We have yet to have a problem with that tho.]]- Jason
That's good, I haven't noticed any cars so far that shouldnt have gotten the awards they got...

Yea that makes really good sense. To each their own I guess. I've never won a trophy/award before so I guess I wouldn't know the joy in getting one. Then again I've only been in one show that I entered my stock mx6 in lol. I would completely understand if there were cash prizes or something, and I guess I do understand that getting trophies is fun and that makes the need for judging. Maybe I just dont understand why people get all butt hurt about not winning.Enough of that, I'll be at p10 and I'm looking forward to it!

You're not alone with that view...I view the whole car show thing as an opportunity to show my car off, hang out with friends, drink even, and if I ever happen to get recognition for it, great. If not, oh well, that's not really makes the show worthwhile.I totally agree with both posts completely. It does however feel good to get a trophy for your hard work. It is a real sense of accomplishment and it makes you very proud of what you have done.

Over the years I have watched this show grow into what it is today. Everything improves every year. Last year was the first year I had a car in the show, its even more fun having a car in it then not. It gives you a real look at to how much time/money/effort is put into people cars and getting them ready for the show, and the show it self. I will for sure have my car in the show again!
I have never thought there was any issues with Judges. As for Chuck. if his car gets a trophy/award, it is because the car earned it.

My only problem is that i can pick all the winners of the show before it even happens.
I'm guessing everyone that won an award last year, also won an award the year before, even though their car was 95% the same. Hell even stock cars can win, and thats kinda odd. -

I seen a few cars that were hand over fists above the rest and deserved to win while others caught me by surprise. Even me placing at all last year. I thought Parker was going to get the trophy I got.

I'd be happy to be a judge, atleast i'd be fair.

you know it is all nice that the guys put alot of work into the cars.

ok, then do something different and put your own car in the show.

I'd agree that the top winning cars generally win year after year....but they hardly stay the same. Some do little things that make them stand out (Tony Swartz), others upgrade a previously unfinished area of their vehicles (Scott Blodgett), some do major work (Brent Mills). The trick to winning a best of class/best of show is to cover every area of judging as best you can. There will always be people who don't like how a car is judged...no doubt, but it is a combined effort (usually) of 3 judges who determine the overall score. I'd expect that you will see fairly consistent numbers from each of the judges. Generally, the obvious best of shows are judged first, just to set the standard that all the others are judged against. Last year that was Brent Mills and Tony Swartz (no surprises there) at both shows that I had the honor of judging.
The general rule of thumb for covering your bases is to modify these basic categories:
Interior
Exterior
Suspension
ICE
Wheels
**Cleanliness **
Display
and at some shows, knowledge of what/why you have the parts you do, how rare they are, etc...The guys who score well at big shows are the guys who sell the judges on their cars. If you want to score major points, you point out your strengths and distract judges from your weaknesses (seriously).

I doubt you can pick the winners ahead of time. A few classes perhaps, but not all the awards

It isn't possible for every car that won last year to have won the year before, because we had ~80 cars enter in 2007, and ~160 last year.... So of the new 80 entries, none of them won awards over the same entries as last year?

I am interested in a stock car that has ever won an award at P10. I'll give you $5 cash for every stock car that won an award. I have the trophy list from last year, so that $5 might as well be $cagillionbillion.

See #2 from the list above. The cars that may have caught your attention may be the same cars to win 2 years in a row (there was only a very few that did), but even I was very super surprised at some of the winners last year....
I encourage the people that were in the show last year to attend again. What fun is it to only show your car when you have invested all the money and time you plan on into the car? We aren't in SOCAL, so I expect nearly 100% of entries to return the next year with a few changes to the car. If all I accepted was new entries each year, the show would have about 2 years of success, then everyone 'has already seen that car'. Come this year with a few mods, and come next year to show what you have changed. That is what a show is about....isn't it?
Here is a quick group of clubs that I can speak of that were at the show last year, that weren't in 2007....with ~80 new entries, there is no argument, and of those that did enter last year, many had new cars (Parker, Smax, etc...).
Chad M - Eurowerkz 00' BMW 323Ci
Eric R - Eurowerkz 96' M3
Will R - Eurowerkz 03' M3

Randell M - G106 96' 240sx
Khay K - G106 91' 240sxJan/Jody Z - Zedril Racing 03' Mitsu Lancer RALLY
There are some inaccuracies in some of the G106 cars. The guys changed cars at roll-in, but all the paid entries had a new car of some sort to P10.
It is ok if some people feel the show is meh, or boring. I know I am far from a perfect show coordinator, and have only so much $ to work with, but considering the show originated in the parking lot at the old shop, I think it brings something fun for local automotive enthusiasts to the area. Each year we add more and more to the budget, which allows us to fly in professional models, and have a cooler stage, and a bigger venue. I can't control who enters, but I know that as we grow, more people can enter, and as long as MORE people enter, that guarantees NEW cars to the show. Maybe once the Fargodome is sold out and we cannot get a bigger venue the same cars will come every year.....but that would simply show that the scene is dying and that having more P10s may not be a wise choice for lack of return spectators.
Bash the show all you want, just use more valid points, so I can learn from your gripes and improve on them for the upcoming shows.
