I say that with the budget surplus we should buy a FUCKLOAD of land and dig a HUGE man made lake just outside of fargo. That way every spring the red, sheyenne, buffalo, wild rice, etc... can all drain into it and fill it instead of flooding the area and every summer when we have a drought we will have a backup water source. It would provide a way to keep the area from flooding, recreation, housing on the lots surrounding it, etc...

    But, what do I know?

it did crest, the water is dropping slowly, most of the water in the country has dropped considerably. In fact, it has dropped enough that we should be able to hold a good 2" of rain with no problems.

Thanks, but I think we'll be fine. Our house is the highest in the development and our basement is only 4 feet into the ground. We've got all of our basement windows and our garage diked up to the height of the main level. If it gets that high and we get water on the main level we never had a chance to begin with. How the hell did you reach for the r and hit j while typing my name, those are pretty far apart and look and sound nothing alike.

good to hear, lets hope it keeps dropping.

So...If the homes near the sheyenne diversion are in danger, where does that put Amber Valley parkway? It's not that far away. That and the overland has me thinking.

The homes to the north are in danger (outside of the diversion). Diversion ends just north of 12th ave, there are developments north of it. (i'm on 16th). suppose they are going to plow amber valley parkway before june now?

As far as my area the ice/snow has SLOOOOOOOWED the sheyenne, my ditches/the river aren't up much more than they were last night when I went to bed.

Just called my dad to see where the level is at. He is out where the Wild Rice hits the Red. They are usually about 12 hours ahead of Fargo. It is at the base of his flood barrier right now. That puts the Red out there at approx. 38.5' They just announced Fargo is at 34.74'
