Oh a friend of mine heard from a guy that heard his mailman say that the City knows the dikes are going to fail and they just don't want people to panic.my cousins best friends sister who is the mayors mistress, told me that Fargo is actually planning on sabataging the dike for flood inssurance money.

All the **rumors **and false information going around is getting a little ridiculous. That is what is making this 'chaos.'Compared to your accurate info?
DelSlow: "I live by the water treatment plant so im good. If we go under you'll all fucked."
Then the DelSlow: "does anyone have spare sandbags" post
Then you ended up leaving right? Yes you are the source of truth. Pffffftttttt.

If you guys think every dike is going to make I think you're wrong..... I hate to say it, but something will fail somewhere before this is done. Do the city officials know it, probably, would they say it, never. These dikes have never been tested to these pressures and the extra weight we have on top of them.

if they build it right its got a chance, for every foot you raise it build it out 2 feet.
we'll see.

Swing and a miss.

Seriously though, Bill is right. The dikes are not even being stressed that hard yet and have to take a week more. It will be a miracle if they all hold.Vette said this so it must be true. He's older, thus he knows about dikes and stress levels. Duh. Common people.

Well, on a lighter note.
I was at Michelson Park today with about 200 other people and we were going to town raising the bags they had there. After about 4 hours or so, the NG/City of Fargo engineers measured it and said "Holy crap why are we doing this?" Apparently with all the help that people were giving it was no built to about 45'.

Ladies settle. Your both wrong until I say you're correct

I was out for 17 hours Thursday. I had just gotten home and put my feet up to relax when the phone rang. My in-laws decided with the raised crest to go all night to bag their house in S Moorhead (Tessa Terrace).
Found out Friday afternoon that my buddy's house that I spent Monday, Tuesday, and part of Thursday at out in Oakport had water up to the ceiling in the basement of their bi-level. He had a 5.5 foot braced plywood dike good to 43 feet. Don't know how it failed but there was already seapage Thursday afternoon when I left so I don't think it breached. On Thursday morning I watched the water come in and fill his entire yard 8 inches deep in 15 mintues. Here are a couple pics of the dike we built...what a bitch to see it go in vain.
