I'd have to say QFT! I really don't think that TM gets back the nearly $20k (guessing at the number....might be a bit higher/lower....but should be pretty f'ing close based on my calculations) that they spend on advertising at the track. Do they get some of it....sure, but I'm willing to bet 95% of the people who race at TM days and then buy parts at TM later already knew of them and planned on buying the parts anyway from them....what they might get is a few tint jobs out of the deal that some of the older crowd might not have known about w/o the sponsorship.

You put Boost Innovations in the phone book and never got any business!?
Oh for fucks sake joel give it a rest.
the point i was making is that no one in there right mind spends a ton of money thinking they won't get some kind of return on there investment. and clearly it works as tons of people stand up for them.
and the personal jab, good one joel.

You think I did that to cover for TM? I did it because it was spinning out of control (thanks in part by me admittedly) in a section that is supposed to be more strictly moderated. I want to know what you think TM posted that said the track wouldn't be open because their deal fell through. Nothing. They merely said that Tintmasters Street Legal Events were cancelled.....then someone came on and said the IDR site says they still have a Test & Tune w/ a Jackpot event which implied bracket racing which would have limited seat time for a LOT of people....how many depends on how many entered the event. Then there were testimonials of how the people who currently run the track can't seem to get their shit straight when it comes to the operations. Then shit hit the fan and Will got pissy about someone telling him that bracket racing will eat up seat time and me explaining how bracket racing works.....and me finally getting fed up with Will's anti-TM shit that he constantly spews on this site and calling him out for it....followed by a butthurt pair of people for me calling it as I see it (aren't I kinda known for that??). Then an utter shit storm of crap talking by everyone when only about 2 people in the thread knew the whole story (me NOT being one of them....but I knew enough to see that TM got hosed based on conversations). What is funny about all of this is that when I first heard about the TM's post about no more street legals, the first thing someone said to me was "How long you think it'll be before Will Bartels starts shit talking TM....and how long before Matt joins in?" Funny how you two are so predictable when it comes to this stuff.
The long and short of it is this: Tintmasters "Styled" Street Legal events are no longer going to take place out there. They are going to be replaced by a different format which may/may not pan out for the track. The price IS going up to race and watch. Track ownership (from what I can tell) seems to think that TM got fucked on the deal as well.
I'm sorry i don't support a company in town. have i ever once not thanked them for the ird support or the auto-x? no but i won't sit there and pass judgment on ird street days solely based on them not running the events.
if that makes me wrong then fuck it. can't try and be mature these days.
chuck you think i came in here to back will? you fucking kidding me? I didn't like how people immediately hated IRD now that tintmasters got "screwed".
Weird how that is?
oh and on the cover up thing, you must not have read my comment to Eathan, huh?

Oh and when did the guy at IDR say it would take up everyone's time?
he said it would be long at all and that it would solely be dependent on if there were enough involved to even do it. so saying it will take forever is kinda silly right?
you kinda disappoint me chuck

Had to change it up a bit. Making fun of your grammar and spelling was getting exhausting.

I'm telling you that the guy at IDR either lied to you or has no fucking clue how long jackpot races take....now that it is a traditional weekend there will be more purpose built cars out there on the track for T&T....these are guys that actually bracket race regularly (again, good luck getting to run in the groove at this event) and to think that they won't get into the jackpot racing is crazy......that is probably the funnest part of brackets to be honest with you, and your biggest chance at making $$$ if you are good at it (or lucky....that helps sometimes too). So no, I do think it will take forever....maybe longer, who knows.

Then with what you just said why did we just have this huge fucking drag out argument?
oh and sorry chuck i believe the guy over the phone before you.
again i will say I'm waiting to pass judgment until i go to a damn street legal day.

Maybe I'm wrong too, but I HIGHLY doubt it. Yes, you can still race, but I am willing to put $5 on it not going anything near like the TM days were where you could get nearly as many passes as you liked and 9/10 times got to run in the groove.
I hope I'm wrong. My car is getting closer to completion as well, so I certainly would like to make some passes locally to get some official times. Yes, I will still be able to race, but I don't think I'll get the time to dial my car in like was available in the past.....and if I do get it dialed in, I WILL be one of the guys running in the jackpot race, because as previously stated, I like bracket racing.
That is fine....that is what Jason said he wanted people to do actually.

Oh....and I just looked at the deleted posts on the original thread, not once did you respond to Ethan.....you did mention the hotlapping of bikes, but IIRC that problem was taken care of last year already.

you never mention this thought? why?
and they don't let people run in the groove because most have street tires and i think everyone can agree the guys on slicks freaked about no traction ever. so they went to no slicks no groove. correct?
every time i had slick i was always in the groove, they would move the cone for me when i came up.

I'm not disagreeing on every point Matt...what I'm saying is that they FINALLY got things right and smooth(ish), had a verbal contract, had the advertising done, had a bunch of other stuff done and then the track pulls a dick move and tells them 2 weeks before the scheduled event that they aren't welcome there....and that was only after an email originated by TM asking if there was anything else that needs to be done. What if Shane had never sent that email? Would they just have turned the TM crew away at the gates? That's the impression I got.
So if TM is a little sore about the ordeal and is boycotting the track because of it.....I don't blame them... they had time & money tied into the event even before it was run, I'd be sore too.
If you are upset w/ TM and want to boycott their store/events, I'm sure there would be no hard feelings on that either.
