this argument has turned to shit, thanks zac, parker, and gary....you guys really need to get a clue, it was never about who was faster or w/e
as ANYONE knows that rwd is better for drag racing. just like mid engine is better for handling(weight distribution and all).
So why pound the fact into the ground. we get it, and i have never said fwd>rwd.
and ws6transam..... what does having a 11 sec car and having one that is capable of running 11's different? thats the same thing as saying i have a zr1 corvette it ran xx.x in the 1/4 mile.( by a pro). does that mean i don't have a car that runs xx.x in the 1/4?
you smoking something buddy?
also how does mpg NOT come into effect with a car. why would i build a car that get 8mpg with the same "potential" as a car that can get 25-35 mpg?
ask gary as he is braggin up his mpg, he must be stupid....
think about it a honda can go run 10's and still drive around getting 35+ mpg. that is impressive no matter how you look at it.
can a v8 do it, maybe but most likely not. i can't even beleave you guys are arguing mpg. i mean there is no argument from the v8 side. admit 4cyl is better for mileage. just like a big ass v8 can make big ass hp.
/argument
There is a big difference between having a 11 second car( that actually runs 11's at a track) or having enough power to theoretically runs 11's. Real world numbers vary from ideals and theoretical numbers. If you cant put the power to the ground what good is it?
You are going to extremes on the mpg (8 is ridiculous). MPG is not a concern when I am building a street strip car.
Why would I build a car that gets half the mileage of a car that has the same "potential". Easy
-Longevity of build (Motor and drivetrain to last longer)
-Traction (rwd vs fwd)I have never argued gas mileage. 4cyl gas mileage FTW!
oh and yes, I fully agree it is very impressive for a honda to run 10's period, without even getting 35+mpg. Its fun to see cars like that.

Stock K series in an EF = 12's...And at 200k... most hondas are just getting broke in...
exactly lol
wow this thread hahah
well my 93 honda civic has 200k on shell and it gets about 32-34 mpg on e85 and i have timeslips to prove my car went 11's and its a street car and i could drive it to the track and race it.
Grr, u congratulated me after my 11.47 pass was that because you felt sorry for me doing that in a civic? i mean if your such a american muscle leg humper on here why would you say that to me?

what does that have to do with anything? you did a good job getting the car there, no objections. and im not a muscle leg humper ive owned and messed with alot of other things, but when the goal is to to make a race car it just makes sense to start with a reasonably easy platform, aka RWD v8
It was cool to see you do that, but, its still a gutted FWD honda. Sorry its one thing to have a fast car but another that can do it in "street trim", aka, not gutted, on reasonable tires and such. I can go get my drag sled out that weighs 320lbs and run 10s, then come on here and run my mouth that i did it with only 190hp and its an import to boot, but it wouldnt be that big of a deal now would it, since im not gonna drive it to BIR and go arbys like that and pick up some roast beef

Oh i have been wanting to ask you, how is the trip on those slicks when they are that low? Any big issues with shimmy (other than tq steer) or nervousness making the turnoff at the end?

not at all, these slicks run down the track very well, i mean when they are low its kinda hard to turn but thats about it. my slicks i had last year shook my whole car on deccerlation tho bad.
