Twin Turbo, AWD, 365hp and it's a Taurus

My first reaciton is this:
Transaxle type: 6-speed electronically controlled automatic overdrive
ATTN Ford: Go fuck yourself.
But if you look at it a bit more, it's interesting.
Why do american companies refuse to say how big the brake discs are? Are they embarassed?
Also, using the configurator, why can't you get the SHO "performance package" and rain sensing wipers / premium stuff at the same time? What assholes.

I didnt think they would actually release it. It's release was held back if I am not mistaken. I was surprised to see Ford do this. I think it's sweet even with it's downfalls. Nearly 20 years later, the domestic companies start to catch on to what a bevy of over seas manufacturers have been doing.

yay ecoboost!
-
if big torque was all that mattered:

Maximum torque: 5,608,312 lb/ft at 102rpm
as an aside, it's pretty easy to get flat torque with computer-controlled boost.
The impressive thing to me about this motor is that they've gone with direct-injection, high-compression turbocharging, similar to Audi FSI. 10.0:1 static CR is pretty good, comparable to a european engine.

So what's that bad boy going in? Looks like it belongs in a large container or cruise ship.

That engine family made its debut a couple of years ago in the MKS, I am excited to see one and maybe drive one but $40,000 plus. Dammit ford, btw these things are huge. Saw a pic of one parked next to an older tundra, car's roof was as tall as the truck's.

yeah I work for a ford dealer now, and must say the new SHOs are probably going to be pretty cool. like you guys have said really good power, and the torque that is available instantly. good to see at least they have some good ideas, and are heading in the right direction.
they plan on the ecoboost line of engines being incorporated into their entire line. even into their trucks.

This is what makes it look goofy as hell, at 5'8" that is the same height of my suburban. Too bad they borrowed drivetrain parts from Mazda................... -
Fail.....Haha the car has a price similar to my twin turbo BMW 335i...Does ford really want to roll with euro automakers like audi bmw and merc???
365 hp is only good for a 0-60 time in 5.5 seconds?? come on now...somethings wrong there.
Giggles... My car would wax this car in everyway yet its priced in some what the same way.
:icon_scratch:Give up ford. You fail...

WOW**
That has got to be some the most arrogant elitist shit I've heard in a long time. I guess if it's not a BMW or any other German car, it isn't shit. -
Hahahahahha. I knew that would draw a reaction out of some of you
:drunken_smilie:But in all reality.. Its a ford taurus. Theres stigma attached to that name...when poeple think ford taurus they think budget econ car that has minimal build quality. I respect ford for trying to step up to that next level...But why the taurus, why dont they "Reinvent" their brand like they have been saying they would.
along with all the other US automakers -
^^ you don't have alot to say about reliability. euro cars are not known for being all that reliable. also i'm sure the ford costs as much to replace the same parts as the bmw.
it's all relivent you know.
-
Ima trade in BOTH of my taurus's for one of the new ones.
