That old motor went to hell and didnt make it back in one piece. Hope it all works out. BTW matt.......did you ever show the carnage from the engine???

corwin honda on leak down tests: "fuck em, we don't need em. Its much faster to just not do them."his warranty does not pay for diagnostics items on a new motor that was supposed to be good. Why would someone assume that it had a bad headgasket? Shit happens with used motors, you cant expect everything to be wrong and pre diagnose something without concerns.
the corwin service warranty is covering the repair from the motor now so it really doesnt matter. its being taken care of the way it should be.

what about my $200 in diagnosing a fuse? it took a tech 2 hrs to find a fuse was missing? seriously not impressed at this point.

Corwin Honda on Leak down tests: "fuck em, we don't need em. Its much faster to just not do them."
Do any of you tuner wannabees even know how to do a leak down test. Obviously not since a leak down test is to check for sealing valves and rings. So stop acting like you know what your talking about, and lay off. If it wasnt for corwins matt would be with out a motor hes lucky hes getting what he got. Im sure the warranty company wouldnt mind hearing how the motor was taking out of the car for a year before they submitted a claim. -

Perhaps you are the one who should stop acting like you know what you are talking about and lay off.

Gasket problemsOccasionally, the compression in the cylinder will cause a leak to form in the gasket and the gasket will have to be replaced, or severe damage can take place (a "blown" head gasket). This problem has been exacerbated by the use of aluminum rather than iron cylinder heads; while lighter than iron, aluminum has a much greater thermal expansion rate, which in turn causes a great deal more stress to be placed on the head gasket. Engine makers have responded to this by adding a non-stick coating such as Teflon to the surface of the head gasket.
If the gasket fails, a variety of problems can occur, from compression loss (leading to power reduction, or a rough engine), to exhaust gases being forced into the cooling system, leading to the engine overheating and increased engine wear due to the motor oil being mixed with antifreeze. Coolant can leak into the cylinders, causing the exhaust to issue steam[3] and the catalytic converter to be damaged. If a very large amount of coolant does this, hydrolock can occur, causing extensive engine damage. Sometimes, all that may happen when a head gasket is blown is excessive steam erupting from the tailpipe; yet the engine may act and drive like normal, until all the coolant is gone and the engine overheats.
A damaged head gasket can cause compression to leak between cylinders.Head gasket condition can be investigated by checking the compression pressure with a pressure gauge, or better, a leak-down test, and/or noting any indication of combustion gasses in the cooling system on a water-cooled engine. Oil mixed with coolant and excessive coolant loss with no apparent cause, or presence of carbon monoxide or hydrocarbon gases in the expansion tank of the cooling system can also be signs of head gasket problems.
Driving with a blown head gasket (if possible) can cause additional extensive damage due to overheating or loss of lubrication.
Blue exhaust smoke may be indicative of oil burning. White exhaust smoke is an indicator of coolant burning, another sign of head gasket wear. -

Im still gunna go with abuse that took out the engine but hey..... what do i know? Matt is extremely lucky he is getting what he is getting.

im trying to be civil, im not trying to get into a heated debate. all im saying is that wills comment was was uncalled for. the fuse thing i dont know much about but i remember hearing a little about it and not being impressed also. sometimes flat rate works out for the customer sometimes for the tech, thats the nature of flat rate.

wow you aint got a clue what your talking about anybody can copy and paste how to test for a bad head gasket. unless the motor is totally running like shit and smoking a leak down test isnt goin to tell you shit. and in matts case his engine was running fine. plus it was a used motor from a junk yard, you got no clue how a dealership works if a tech isnt getting paid to look at it he isnt working on it. all they were suppose to do was install the used motor that was sent to them not diagnose underlying conditions.

And Brandon, since when has anything Will ever posted matter?? You know who he is and what he does....
