Desktop ram

Um there is a pc2-2100 and a pc-2100 umm its for my girls computer because i put windows vista home premuim on it and its not running to smooth becuase of the lack of ram. Umm i put one in from my old desktop and i believe it was pc2 but i will double check next time i am around her computer.

And if you have PC2-2100, wouldn't you, in theory at least, be able to run 4200 in that machine...only you wouldn't see the full advantages of doing so unless the bios recognizes the faster speed?
If you want 4200 I have some used sticks laying around here (2 512's and 1 1Gig) that I'd let go for like $5 each

Only if the memory is backward compatible and able to run at the slower speed. Otherwise I think it either wouldn't recognize the memory being in there at all or give a memory error during POST. I think anyway. Like I said, it's been a while.
You can buy just the upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium for like $110 online. It's totally worth it. If you can run XP on the machine, you won't need any additional memory to run 7.

or you can DL a RTM version of 7 and crack it....not that I'd condone such behavior of course.

Can i run pc2-2100 and the 4200 at the same time? her motherboard has 4 spots for ram.
If the 4200 will work i will take um... cuz 2 gigs would speed it up a bit haha. But would i see all of thoughs 2 gigs?

Download and crack 7....cheaper/easier than buying ram.

Hey...Its been awhile but i finaly had time to take a look at it...I takes DDR PC-2100. So does anyone have some laying around they would be willing to get rid of for a little bit of cash?...Idk if it matters but i am running one with a Clocking time of 2 and one of 2.5.
