Right now, the best bang for the buck is one of the following (each for different reasons):
Pioneer
Clarion
JVC -
hey chuck i am finally getting my car done and looking for a head unit. I need a DVD player w/o screen with 2 preouts for amps and a video out for a different screen. I am not sure if pioneer has one like this. I have seen an alpine one i like but i have always ran a pioneer unit. Thanks
-
Yeah, they all have the features you want. Weshole has access to Alpine/Clarion/JVC/Kenwood/Eclipse/Pioneer....he is using Pioneer in his car for a reason.
-
Jared, the one list above is $489. AVH-P4200 is the one I'd recommend, primarily because they have a full size screen, and the ability to add navi later if you want....and they have high output RCA's.
-
No, I can beat their pricing quite easily. PM Sent.

PM price on the AVH-P4200, onstar/door chime module, the steering wheel control module (lets me keep my steering controls functional), and install kit for an 03 hummer h2....also what goes into turning "nav ready" into "nav"? Ever installed the onstar/chime module and steering control module in a GM truck (aka..know how to do it?)?
-
PM Being sent.
And yeah, I've done the onstar/chime thing. Very easy to do, it just plugs in. Steering wheel volume control/track control/etc... is pretty straight forward too.
To convert a nav-ready piece to a navigation piece you need AVIC-U220. I don't have pricing on this unit yet however.

I'm not sure what exactly you were asking? Was there 2 pieces you'd consider w/ one being a single din CD player and the other a single din flip-out DVD player? If so, I will look into the CD player option for you and send you a PM.
As for the DVD flip out:
$200 to $300 for Pioneer flip up dvd players won't fit that range at all, you are looking at nearly twice that much for their flip out unit.
-
Hey Chuck don't waste a lot of time on this, its dependant upon me getting a promotion I'm going for that would require a lot of travel to major cities. But could you get a DVD/nav unit in the stock location on my Impala, its a double DIN, make it look factory and work with the steering wheel controls, and Bluetooth? Not so worried about cost, I'm guessing around a grand, just if its possible.
-
Yes I can do that, and that price is probably pretty close to what it will cost to do it as well.
