F1 has a MUCH broader following worldwide than NASCAR....and more excitable fans. It's really too bad that Americans have such a short attention span otherwise I'm positive that F1 would be followed more closely here, but it seems like we (as a nation) can't follow a race that involves left AND right hand turns without getting confused about who is leading and what is going on. There is so much more strategy/technology in F1 than NASCAR that its not even funny. You can't just rub and bash your way to the front and hope that your car holds up. It takes far more finesse and skill to race at ridiculously high speeds with cars that are engineered to properly race rather than compete in a high speed demolition derby.F1>NASCAR all day, every day....especially Sundays
Ok this is so beyond wrong. for one F1 is boring as shit compared to nascar. I'm all for watching different motorsports but serious, go drive a huge hunk of shit around a track at 190mph for hours with 40 other guys around you bumping into you. Yeah there fucking doing nothing in the cars but sipping on there caramel macchiatos. :icon_scratch:
In F1 it's "oh no i was 3.12843 mm to far in and my trajectory was a bit off so i rubbed your carbon infused honeycomb winglit yadda yadda" and your out the race.
Nascar is not something i watch and am very into but it's a hell of alot better then the 25 lap races, i mean time trails that is F1.
i love watching aussi supercars, gt racing, etc... on speed but where is the rally and other sports. For christ sake thay had lawnmower racing on the other day and not wrc?????

Like I said the current F1 rules do make it a little boring but not as boring as NASCAR IMO. You know what is super exciting to watch, MotoGP, DTM, and Aussie Supercars. Rally racing can drag on but all they need to do is show the dash cam a little more. Speaking of drag why is there no drag racing on Speed? I can't recall ever seeing Top Fuel, Funny Cars, or Pro Stock cars/bikes on Speed. ESPN has it pretty regularly so I can't bitch too much but when your channel is dedicated to motorsports professional drag racing is a pretty big deal to just leave out.

But you proved my point in this thread. NASCAR has less to do with precision and more to do with knowing which part of your car can be used to put another driver out of commission and still allowing yourself the opportunity to finish the race.
If smash-em-up racing is your cup of tea, then yes...NASCAR wins every time....sometimes I watch nascar as well, primarily for the wrecks.

that's the plan ^

Dude your soo out of it if you think all NASCAR is people wrecking. Usually the only crashes are caused by flat tires. Hey man if you like watching follow the leader for a couple hours though thats cool with me. You know a NASCAR driver by the name of jeff gordon drove one of those cars once, and the very first time he got in the car is was very close to the pole qualifying time of the last race. Nascar drivers must just be hicks who play demolition derby.
And if precision gets you excited you have other problems. Like i said those guys are all good drivers but not very fun to watch. And thats kinda the point of it being on tv. Watching.

NASCAR just isn't fun to watch tho. Sure maybe the last 30 laps or so but 500 miles!? Fuck that noise. I won't defend F1 because I somewhat agree with you although you have a very biased opinion and I'm not sure why, but this thread was never meant to be F1 vs. NASCAR. My main contention is that NASCAR is taking up air time that could be better used showing live races from series like DTM, Aussie V8 supercar, JGTC, MotoGP, etc. etc. There are many, many, many, many, many more races I would rather watch than a re-run of a goddamn NASCAR race.

And your point? It has been said many times that F1's biggest fault is there's to many secrets. Everything is secret mods this and secret mods that. It's pretty much a engineer's wet dream but is BORING if your watching it at home.
I never meant to make this a nascar vs. F1 argument either but you just made some dumb points about nascar and F1 uber precision driving....:icon_scratch:

They are both a game of follow the leader. My point is this...if I'm watching follow the leader, I'd rather watch the guys that turn the wheel both directions rather than just one. And yes, Jeff Gordon did exceptionally well when he got behind the wheel....he also (at that time) was phenomenal on the road courses at NASCAR events...and was winning championships fairly often. Gordon is a very good driver, no doubt about it, he has also stated that he would love to run in F1 if given the chance so that he could race with the best of the best.

Jeff Gordons time was no where near the pole time. come on. really?

But apparently showing reruns of old ass NASCAR races is cool. I want to see more spectators getting taken out by off road trucks.
