Got a few pics last night. My wife's coworker met her at Hornbachers, He said he went for a walk, and when he got home the place was burning so he just walked to Hornbachers to think. He lived on the 3rd floor, He lost everything he had.

If you rent, get renter's insurance! It's cheap.

both of my brother-in-laws used to live in that building. FWIW, that building had bar none the WORST fire detection system I've seen from a modern apt building. And their sprinkler system appeared to lack proper coverage as well.

When I was renting, renters insurance was free through State Farm. They deducted the cost of adding the policy from my yearly car insurance so it came out to cost nothing.

That is pretty low gary. i mean just don't say anything even if everyone knows it's foolish to not have insurance.

My question is...Would the person responsible for starting the fire be responsible for all the damages to the building and all the other tenant's belongings? Or does something like this not work that way and everyone is responsible for their own stuff, even though they were not the ones responsible for the fire? I'm not really positive how it would work in this situation, but that is usually how other insurance works.

The person may be held legally liable, which opens them up to a lawsuit or lawsuits, But.....for the most part, the building owners have their own insurance for cases like this which will cover the building only. Renters with insurance will likely be covered by their policy, renter without...... well? sucks but they will be out of everything they lost. If the person that started the fire has insurance i suppose it is possible that the other insurance company's may sue the responsible s insurance. but.... still, without opening a civil suit against the responsible party, the uninsured are out of luck. 😞

LOL, what a bunch of pansys. If you have your own place, you are obviously grown up enough to do the adult thing and get insurance. Im sure anyone in that building has a car and a $100/month cell phone bill that they are never late on. If they dont bother with $80-$100/year then fuck em, everyone these days want a god damn hand to hold. Grow the fuck up

Really inappropriate at the moment. Grow up. Even if you have insurance its a shitty situation, there are a lot of things you cant put a price on.

god some of you kids are weak, boo fucking hoo. If my apartment burned i would have $20k in my pocket, would be a pretty good day IMHO. What do you think happened 50-75 years ago when you were 16 and had your own farm to manage? If it burned to the ground you started over, didnt cry to everyone about being non or under insured. Pussy bitches are one of the biggest problems, its un-nerving how effeminate society has become

nothing to do with it, i had a great childhood. People are just weak now, my grandparents were ashamed of how weak and powerless the average person had become. I was taught not to be that way because of that very problem, guess thats why i liked being in the military so much. Shit happens, if your stupid enough to not have insurance you deserve the agony; some people have to get fucked over to learn things, that is the nature of darwinism

lol @ actually having a spine makes us "pussy ass bitches". there was a lot of personal, and likely a lot of irreplaceable items these people lost. what is money going to do to solve those losses?

Maybe not the whole apartment burning down thing, but ive had my "shit happens" moments...hell 2009 was that, you didnt hear me crying and whining about it, nope, just pushed through it and continued on the way I always have. yes its shitty their apartment burned down, and it sucks that they lost stuff, but it REALLY sucks they didnt have insurance.
