March 12-19: Top Gear Style Spring Break Challenge Interest List
-
I have wanted to do something like this, or Ultimate street car challenge, but to be honest, I think you'll have a hard time getting it going. I think your best bet is to start smaller, something local and grow it from there, it might have a chance.

yea, we don't actually get a spring break, so i'm out. Sounds like fun though.

Ya, $1000 car, plus licensing and taxes, insurance, and gas yada yada...ill stay here and work.$1000 car is the max...Could buy a $500 car (and split with another person = $250/each). Registration is around $50 for something like that, but if you buy the car from ND, the car comes with 30 days of registration via the previous owner's registration card. My insurance company covers vehicles I buy under my primary vehicle's insurance for 30 days after purchase as well. Then you can sell the car at the end, hopefully for around $500. Meaning you really only spent gas money, etc...
The goal is to keep the total out of pocket cost for those that don't keep their cars or have their cars break along the way to be $500 or less. Fuel will be $225 for most individuals round trip (2000 miles @ 30mpg gas avg. $3.25/gal)...Keeping in mind one can split this fuel cost amongst team members. Remainder of the money to go towards food, maybe a hotel, etc.
In all, it won't cost you that much as long as you play your cards right.

if anyone wants, i have a car that would be perfect for this!

Lol the 30 day registration thing is bogus, if you sell a car it should be titles in your name, that's the law anyways. If you buy a ar, don't title it and sell it, its called title jumping, and I believe it is either a class a misdemeanor or a felony in MN, don't know about ND. This sounds like a blast but I candy afford. To do it right now

My point: if registration money is an issue, you have time to gather the funds to register it formally. The 30 day registration thing is not bogus. In North Dakota, on the back of every registration card, there is a 30 day permit to place in the window for purchasers of the vehicle. This way, the previous owner of the vehicle keeps the licence plates as in ND the plates belong to the owner, not the vehicle as in MN. Call the ND DOT/DMV if you don't believe me.
