S2k swap
-
lol would be nice but this should be fun when its done
-
Didn't I read somewhere that the S2000 engine actually rotates in the opposite direction as the Toyota engine it would be replacing and as a result, the corresponding rear diff is designed for that and would need to be utilized? If that is the case, You may run into an issue actually driving it without problems.
This is just what I remember hearing. I have no clue personally. Just thought I'd throw that out there. -
you know wes thats a good thought ill do some research on it tomorrow and let you know what i find but thanks for the heads up
-
Wes, as for the rear end it kept me up most of the night looking and from what i've found the stock rear end works perfectly but needs to be slightly upgraded do to the stock power differences in the engines

I would use the S2k motor harness for sure, splice into the factory harness when necessary. It's an 86, whats in it, 8 wires?from what i have found there should be 6 grounds and about 12 power wire left when all said and done, so your pretty frigin close lol
-
Hmm. So youre going to use the s2000 transmission ? Id use as much of the factory wiring as possible. Its be interesting to see where the shifter ends up in the corolla chassis. Good luck, itll be sweet if it gets finished.

you have to cut back bout 2 or 3 inches and then you have the choice of shortening the e-brake handle or relocating it but from what I've seen its a pretty straight forward swap the wiring is the only thing I'm truly worried bout haven't found an exact diagram or example yet

my other big concern is the spacer that i need to put between the frame and the lower crossmember and how it will affect the alignment and driveabilty of the car

make sure you mount it as low and as far back as you can get it. It will prolly drive like a go cart. I'm pretty sure Josh from fergus was going to do this swap, i'm sure he can give you the in's and out's of it, but i don't know what he is up to these days 1990tsi on here i believe...
-
ya that was his plan and i dont know what happened to it but its in my hands now and i will get it done. he still has a butt load of the parts with him in fergus but i cant seem to get ahold of him so a road trip might be in order

LolStandalone with a fresh flying lead harness.....cake and look factory
would be nice i just don't like the price tag of the stand alone and from what i've found the harness is supposed to be pretty simple to do i guess that you basically use a stripped s2k dash harness, full engine harness and bits from the corolla
-
this i know bubba, but all the write ups leave out alot of important info and leaves me looking for that info but in time i will have every thing i need to know plan is to start on the dash and wiring tomorrow
