    http://www.voanews.com/english/news/a-13-a-2002-08-14-2-Bosnian-66826882.html

You can thank them for the Bosnians, Somlians and Sudanese that are resettled here in Fargo.

"Kathy Thoreson said, "North Dakota has been a very welcoming place for refugees. They have used the terminology that the people are so warm, even if the weather is cold." She heads the refugee resettlement program for Lutheran Social Services in Fargo. The organization has brought hundreds of immigrants here from around the world, but the largest group more than 1,300 came from Bosnia."

... " Ms. Meagher joined other property managers at a recent housing meeting sponsored by Lutheran Social Services, to discuss ways to understand and deal with the situation. L.S.S explained that partly in response to complaints, it has begun a mandatory class for new refugees on how to be a responsible tenant. Resettlement Case Manager Ermina Jelovac, a Bosnian refugee herself, works with new arrivals for their first three months in Fargo.

"We do the orientation with them on a lot of things we do here in the U.S. It's very important so they can become self-sufficient and resettle here in Fargo," Mr. Jelovac said. "

I don't get it, they bring Somlians and Bosnians who obviously don't want to fucking be here, dump them here, have them DRAIN the government of money and then claim that its all part of the refugee's being self sufficent.

They think they are doing such a great service to humanity, if they feel so strongly about it, they should front the money to support these pieces of shit, not the rest of us.

FUCK that. It's the same shit down here in the twin cities, if you don't want to be here in the US GTFO. Go back to your war torn piece of shit nations. You come here with every opportunity, thats what we here in America believe in. Equal opportunity, not equal outcome.

If you choose to drop out of highschool and steal scrape metal that is your choice, but don't leech of society and make us pay for your retarded choices.

Honestly you would have been a better use to the world, dead rather then leeching off the hardwork of others.

Now that being said, there always are exceptions to the rule, where people really do work hard and contribute to society. However, is the net worth of 100 leechers worth the benefit of the 5 who work hard?

i think they need to do like annual follow up studies with how things are ACTUALLY going with these people. If they aren't off welfare in say, 2 years, then send em back. If they don't graduate high school, send em back. If they aren't employed in x amount of time, send them back. If they don't pay taxes in x amount of time, send them back. Give them the opportunity, but if they take it, and they don't deliver, then send them back.

I was under the impression they give them X amount of time to be self sufficient then they are cut off assistance...not sure if that is true or not. If it is true, I believe that to be the reason of them grouping up to live together on someone else's assistance.

I have met plenty of good down to earth refugees that really want to make the most of their life here(the ones we had in HS were definitely not leeches). That said, unfortunately it is the ones that are bad that stand out. It also seems like it is MOSTLY the parents that are the respectable ones and their kids are wayyy of the path. They probably aren't ready to parent here in the US...I'm sure it's quite different.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Personally I think there needs to be some reform on aid for low-income families. Things like welfare and food stamps can make people lazy and do the opposite of what they are designed to do which is to get people back on their feet. It's not just the Midwest, it happens down in the South too, and even moreso. If you really think Bosnians (and I really hate to generalize here) are bad think of the 12 million illegal Hispanics in our country leaching off our education system, road taxes, welfare, etc.

There is a major problem with our country these past few decades and I genuinely believe this is the reason why the United States is on the decline (China's economy is supposedly to surpass the US within the next few years). And, unfortunately, it does happen largely in part due to minorities. My girlfriend is from Texas, and I know for a fact there are many people down there claiming disability and receiving money from the government because they got fake paperwork from corrupted (minority) doctors. Or they will claim welfare and hide all their assets because they work at a (minority) place that pays in cash. That place will also avoid taxes too.

It's a huge looming problem that needs to be addressed ASAP, this charity money doesn't work because it is too easy to manipulate. In the end, the government is giving handouts to people who don't need them and will turn around to buy fancy cars and houses. I know a lady in Texas who receives welfare checks and used them to buy a brand new house. It's ridiculous.

With all that said, I was a refugee. I came here with my parents as a refugee back in 1990. I worked hard and studied hard and ended up in pharmacy school here at NDSU. If I wasn't given the opportunity to come to this great country I would not be where I am today (I came from a war torn country). When we came here we did not get any welfare money, and my mom and dad had to build everything we have now with their two bare hands. Would free federal money been nice? Sure, it might have made things easier. Was it necessary? No. New Americans just need guidance, not government handouts.

Diversity is a good thing for this country. Having more minorities isn't the problem in America because once we are here we are all Americans (except for the illegals, obviously). Unfortunately what happens is people find themselves comfortable with always getting free money and they finding loopholes and ways to cheat the system. That's the hole that America needs to fix.

Exactly. I have clients that deal with assistance in housing, as well as friends and family members that deal with properties. The system IS a problem. For example, I was talking with a client a few months back about how the assistance works. It actually PUNISHES you for going out and getting a job of any kind. They drop you off of assistance as soon as you get the job. Fine. BUT, the issue lies with the fact that you actually make less money doing something at McDonalds for $7.50/hr versus living on assistance. There needs to be a gradual scale of assistance..not just on or off. It just creates a messy situation of someone needing to get worse before it gets better. They also mentioned that they get money for their utility bills, and generally don't spend it on that. Then, they go crying to LSS about how their electricity, etc will be shut off...they get cut another check to pay for their bills. This isn't all minorities either, there is just as much white trash out there..

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Couldn't have said it better myself man.

And yeah. They can shut off the funding for them at any time and it won't offend me in any way shape or form.

Is anyone surprised that social service agencies have an agenda?
