Nothing wrong with E10. In fact almost all gas sold in MN is E10, and they are possibly going to be bumping it up to a E20 requirement.

That's the difference between oxy and non-oxy gas - ethanol.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

So which is better for my car, with basic engine mods(I/H/E), oxy or non-oxy?
I've heard people say ethanol is good while others say it's bad.

I dont think it matters, you will probably get better mpg with non ethanol gas.

Exactly. I've seen people claim 4-5mpg better with non-oxy.

That seems a little shocking. I know people with flex fuel trucks that say they get a 4-5mpg difference between E85 and regular pump on the interstate, and thats a whole lot more ethanol.

I'd be VERY surprised if that were the case.

I was thinking that was water but wasn't sure, I guess reading owns me. 😄

I've had excessive moisture coming out of my exhaust as of lately and until yesterday I was filling up at Loaf & Jug on 25th.
Last week I was doing a little cleaning on the fuel rail, regulator and what not and decided to pull the fuel line from the filter to the rail and shoot some carb cleaner though it, the stuff that came out looked identical to the layer of water in the sample.
I have since filled up elsewhere, after running the tank low, and my car seems to be running a lot better.

L&J on 25th has terrible fuel. I am in there all the time but wont buy gas there.

E10 gas has lower combustion energy than non-oxygenated fuel, and on older cars or small engines that aren't using modern rubber formulations, the ethanol content "can" be problematic. I beleive there are also water absorption and shelf-life disadvantages to even low concentrations like E10.

Obviously nobody argues with the great power you can get on E85 for specially prepared setups. But putting E10 in unmodified engines isn't done for any benefit to you.

The fact that you use it in MN because of law instead of because lots of people wanted it should tell you all you need to know.

the other chemicals would likely be more of the tankers that refuel them making a mistake than Love's itself. I'm pretty sure they get their fuel from the same refinery as everyone else does.

As for ethanol blends, I've run E30 in the past when I had my STi and didn't notice any real negatives as far as fuel economy goes. Butt dyno seemed to not notice any noticeable changes either.....then again, I haven't had that thing calibrated in years. Only reason I ran/tried E30 was because it was cheaper by about $.25/gallon

yea i figured it was more of a tanker mix up or some residual left in there but its the fact that its not the first time with them and it wasnt always THAT fuel weve found in vehicles. Ive seen a handful of vehicles with water in the fuel come from there. As mush as I would say forgive and forget normally, these were expensive repairs and the title of the thread is "stations with bad gas". I think with multiple occurances we shouldnt just blow it off as a tanker mix up and people in this thread should know of the issue.

ahh...didn't know about the other issues. We've filled up there regularly w/o incident. I guess we have been lucky/gotten there on the right days.

yea i figured it was more of a tanker mix up or some residual left in there but its the fact that its not the first time with them and it wasnt always THAT fuel weve found in vehicles. Ive seen a handful of vehicles with water in the fuel come from there. As mush as I would say forgive and forget normally, these were expensive repairs and the title of the thread is "stations with bad gas". I think with multiple occurances we shouldnt just blow it off as a tanker mix up and people in this thread should know of the issue.

                                        thanks spanish

                                        good to know
