I've actually seen that before on ford engines. But only on the 3.8 v6's nothing else. I didn't thing the V8's had to worry about that. Did it say how he did it?

its actauly a common problem with the factory block it has very little re-inforcements and weak webbing most motors u see this happen to are well over 500hp and reving past 6k, it usauly happens after a hard run it starts with a light lifter tick and if not caught in time it ends up like this one, a v based engine is getting forces from all directions trying to yank it itself apart, when hp is up there and high reving it adds to the problem. they make all kinds of different girldles but they just delay the inevitable. the only real cure is a after market block, this is why a inline engine stay together so well, but like they say u gotta pay to play. Any car with over 500hp is gonna tend to break something. just do a web search and type in broken 302 block and see what ya find

good explanation mikey. It's a big time saver when you can pull the crank out without taking the main caps off!!! 😉

LOL. I think he might have copied and pasted part of that... That would be like Nova writing a properly spelt word. Heh, sorry Nova, had to say it.

That sucks that those little mustang heads get soo mad at each other that they have to try and split the block apart. Just think, a mustang at 500hp is only 1.66hp/CI while my car was about 4.51hp/CI 😄 I know, I know..we have already talked about this. It is fun to think about though.

                              Anyways, cool pics!

I use a stock block 306, it makes 640 rwhp, and no cracks, it's all in the tune up. Aem all the way.

Not up to par on my Ford motor specs, what is a 306? As you say, tuning has a lot to do with engine failure. I had AEM on my talon, and I loved it. You can blow your engine up with a push of a button, or make it run beautifully with a push of a button:) I don't think I would run a stock ECU again on a car after having all the control in my hands with the AEM.

                                    Nate, a 306 is a .030 over 302(5.0).

I don't think bad tuning tore the engine apart. I do believe that how the engine was anchored most likely contributed to the self destruction. I (believe) it would never have happened if there was a front or rear motor plate used.
