Planning Turbo Replacement/Upgrade - Looking for input...
-
Ah, no problem. Yeah, if I was doing that I'd go FMIC anyway

Bought the Walbro today, thanks Tintmasters!
-
Found a deal on a TMIC, AVO it is... Pick it up on the 11th in the cities.
Injectors came today, and the guys at United said some of the diesel shops in town might be the place to go for a thorough cleaning - I'll have to check that out. Flow sheet looks good, all between 847 and 850cc.

Got a shipment notice and tracking number from BNR, my EVO3 16G is on it's way! Now I just hope it survives the madness that is UPS during the holidays...
Still holding onto hope that the DW65c's will be out sooner than later, I'd rather not have to modify the fuel pickup assembly if I don't have to...
-
Got my base etune yesterday & turbo today. Everything is here except the intercooler, which I'll pick up Monday.

Hell yeah... I'm gonna go into UPS withdrawls after all this.

Picked up the TMIC in the cities yesterday.

Hope to get the fuel pump in one of these nights, then Friday/Saturday do the rest of the install.

DONE!
Started at about 6, installed turbo, injectors, gs ebcs, tmic & filtered oil line. Flashed the new tune and took her for a test drive around midnight. I think I'm overboosting a bit, but I'm seeing 21# on my little 16g!

Took a look at my old turbo. .021 of shaft play, and it was indeed rubbing on the compressor cover!

Fuel pump went in last night, so I'm finally ready to pull some 3rd gear logs and get my tune revised.

-
Oh, and now that I can run it to redline, I'm seeing 63% IDC on my base tune. That should put me around 82% when I tune for E85. Some people had suggested 750s or even 650s but I'm glad I went with 850s. Car runs and idles great.
-
Yeah, so 63 x 1.3 = 81.9 unless I'm doing the math wrong...

Been a while since I updated... Flashed the 7th tune revision and pulled some logs today, but found a boost leak at the TMIC>MAF hose connection. Got it all sealed up and will pull new logs tomorrow. I was hoping to be well into my e85 tune by now :icon_scratch:
Installed a stock grill and a ProClip mount since the last post.

Lookin good. Was nice to see you out the other day/night.

Pulled logs on revision 9 the other day, hopefully we're close...
A few guys mentioned another tuner when I was out at Tintmasters - any idea who that might have been? It was someone other than Nuke or RS. I'm thinking it might be worth a roadtrip for a road/dyno tune for e85.
-
Tune is finally DONE! Revision 10 is the final. I'll re-tune for e85 sometime this summer, possibly at RS Motors.

I am not sure who this tune would be. Nuke or RS would be the places I would go. I know Bullwinkle on MNSubaru does tuning; however, he doesn't do a lot of it anymore, and I don't think he tunes E85.
