Why doesn't anybody race?

I think the scene has REALY changed since F&F right now its at a little bit of a fall but all things have ups and downs. Right now I think the biggest change is the split between performence and show. After F&F people wanted show, No needed show inorder to be cool. Now the trend has chaged to have a clean fast unique car. I'm sure it will change soon enough.
More people need to use the power they buy we pay up the ass for perfomace parts and hardly ever use them. For this reason I love living in the country and being able to race whenever I want with out worry of police.

Hey, I am also new to this club, but everytime im out cruising (at least 3 times a week and I never see anyone) everytime I get the chance to race someone I do....AND I DO IT IN MY FUCKING BLAZER....the other day I raced mustangguy (I think thats his name) and everytime im out I try to race dubbsy but hes a pussy now.....and everyone I see from fargostreet I would gladly race even though I know I would lose. But I agree with these posts that people arent racing. I just wanted to say that im not one of them. See me on the street and I'll race you, just ask

here's my scoop on this. I don't know much about the racing scene since i dont race much in Grand Forks (fucking ricers...every last one of them :)) and Ive never raced in Fargo, nor do I know much about the scene. But I do know Chicago. Here's how its broken down there. 16 year old buy there honda civics, put altezzas and a big wing on 'em, are made fun of, total their car and by the time they hit their way early 20s, they buy a car and make it go fast.
I see this trend ALL THE TIME! People buy a car, realize it costs money to actually make it go fast so they steal a park bench and put it on their car (or go to the local pep boys and buy a wing). After they start making money, their cars seem to get faster.
This is why I don't really mind all the ricers of Grand Forks (mind you, there are fast cars too). When the kids of this COLLEGE town (note college = little money) start making dough, ,and they still care about cars, they will make it go fast.
Thats all I really have to say. I didnt read pages 2 or 3 because its too much whining but I hope what I said makes sense.

GF is gay, DL is gay, and fargo is becoming gay. I used to be all about racing everyone, until I realized how hard it is on your car, and working my tranny is not worth most races.

Ok, come to wallyworld tonight, and we can, or later also. Why the hell do we go there anyway, it sucks, some lady in a van just sat and watched us last night. I am sure we could find a better spot.

This wasnt the kind of racing they are talking about(unless u actually intend on making your blazer fast...if so then sorry)IMO, People "want to go fast", talk about going fast, think about going fast, and then they look at the whole thing and say "Fuck It!". Just Like me, A lot of people are afraid to go in-depth into performance. If they are planning to put "NOZ" in their cars, you know it aint gonna happen. But When Kevin pulled out those bottles last night, I just about shat myself. I've been trying to keep up with the scene for like 6 months but have never seen Nitrous actually used. I noticed a lot of people became silent as well. Naturally everyone wants to take the easy way out. And its a lot easier to keep your car's value up among other things if you dont use performance(correct me if I'm wrong). So no one wants to spend the time money or energy for it which leads to a shitty scene.

I have too many tickets on my record to race in town, I am down with racin at the track, but right now my Mustang is stock 3.8 litre, if ne one wants to race thats not going to completely blow me away I will. I must say I bought some underbodys and rims etc.. I also want my car to look nice. The reason I havent done ne perfomance mods is cause I cant decide If i wanna build up my V6 or drop a V8 in it.

V6...its lighter and plus you can take the money you would need to buy the V8 and put it in the V6 and TURBO IT! -
I'll tell you why people dont race, last night, I raced a corvet in my car and both of us got drag racing/racing tickets, We should have gotten way worse but the cop was kool about it. We didnt make a good choice of racing on I-94, that was a bad choice I will not go against that, but It gets you in tons of trouble if shit goes down wrong. The two of us were cutting across traffic and doing all sorts of other bad shit, it really could have been bad, just the speeding ticket alone if he would have gave us that was 280 dollars and 15 points off the licence. The race actually went pretty good for me, he was a head of me on the on ramp and then he took off so then I followed, I stayed right with him until I hit 4th gear then I started to pull on him and then I shifted in to 5th and we were side by side, then He decided to turn off onto I-29 there, and we were going about 118-120 mph, I think he saw the cop and decided to try to get away, well both of us got caught. It was a early 90's vet, she was quick. The cop was laughing at us, he said he had it to the floor and we just were pulling away from him. Then he saw brake lights and he said he caught us then, He followed us the whole time I guess off of the on ramp and everything, He came off of 25th right with us and followed the whole thing. I guess cops are human too, I would be pretty excited to watch something like that happen. Anyways the racing ticket is only 10 points off so it wasnt that bad, and it proved to me that not all cops are asses, he came up to the car and was looking at everything I have done, Had me open the doors and the trunk and shit he was just looking at everything, he seemed to be a nice guy.

ya I was doing more reading on this topic, and it makes a lot of sence, I dont do much organized racing. It is tough matching up against somebody that is a good race. Two types of people want to race me, one a 16 sec type of car, or a 12 or 13 sec type of car. Where I know I can look at the car and tell you who is going to win the race. Somebody from sls asked me to race just last night, and now I kinda regreat not taking the race. Win or loose It really doesnt matter i guess. It is just something to do. I do a lot less racing I guess, cuz my car isn't a race car. It is not really a show car either... it is just a all around car... I have done a little bit of everything. One thing I dont like is to race a car that is just made for racing. It is just two different types of cars, even if I would win the race it is still just differnt. I have done performance upgrades but then I have done looks... and I have done stereo... and I have done ICE. And then started it all over and just gone further and further. I think we should do some more racing, safe racing that is in a better spot than I chose to race last night. People just take so much pride in going fast witch is good, but a lot of times I dont understand it. somebody will put 10 grand into a motor and that is all they have is a big pile of shit car with a 10 grand motor, and they will ask me to race, and i will take the race, and then i loose. and all they do is rub it in, ........ my car is faster than yours... your car sucks..... and I just think to my self... your car is still a pile of shit. Ya I may be a little slower, but if I was to build a race car and that is all I had was a car that goes fast, I would blow your fucking doors off, but i didn't I chose many different things becuase I like it all, I like the looks, i like the speed, I like the sound and everything inbetween. So I have to take shit becasue that is what I chose to do. People just need to respect each others choices and domains and not hate on everything and everybody. I do agree we do way too much sitting around I want to fucking drive.

We were right behind when you turned off on I94. Kinda wanted to follow, glad we didn't. No cop was around when you took the on ramp. We saw the corvette pulled over and I pointe and laughed. That thing had a jacked up exhaust.
Both preludes were trying to race anything but nobody wanted to go. Those ground assault guys have nice rides but not too much into racing. That dude with the integra type R refused to race us. Would have been close.

(I shortened it up for the quote)Man... I dont know about weaving in and out of traffic for a "race." I guess thats the kind of thing we DONT like to encourage. Often, I-29 has empty lanes as you head farther out; the speed limit is higher, and really you only risk putting yourself in danger.... I mean i guess you may feel like you have a "race" car going in and out and such, but it'd just one shitty deal if you hit somebodys mom in a minivan.

I bet if i came out in the gold hatch nobody woulde race that either. Everyone always says those are race cars. Well lets line up the gold hatch w/ something. It's got all the same factors you guys do (paint, wheels, stereo, etc..), its an all around driver. But its got the same setup under the hood as the other hatch so its not really gonna matter. Once i get the other head on it and a new water pump in im bringing it out and lets race....
