SRT4 vs Tiburon
-
I couldn't watch the video it was downloading at like 3k per sec so I turned it off.
I read about the mods that the guy has though on the newtiburon forums... He's got an Alpine supercharger + many other mods.
I don't really see how you proved anything, becuase an SRT-4 with the similar amount of $$$ put in to it would DOMINATE that car regardless of what bolt ons it has. Its got a supercharger at 6psi (as listed in his mods)....
-
what he is TRYING to prove is that Tiburons can beat SOME stock cars...but his car is stock and has nothing compared to that Tiburon.
-
There's no doubt that ANY car with enough $$$ put in to it, can be fast. Tiburon has potential, SRT-4 has potential. I'm not disagreeing with either of those... in fact, I like tiburons quite a bit. That widebody shark racing bodykit is fuckin awesome (ok im a ricer). I guess all I'm saying, is that its going to be more expensive to modify a Tiburon and make it as fast as an SRT-4 could be for the same amount of cash.
But then again, there arent ALL that many cars that can be made to be fast cheaply, off the top of my head, itd be DSM's and Hondas... but then you think about if the actual price of the car wasn't a factor, there'd be TONS of cars that could be modified cheaply (cobra, etc.)
-
i agree...i like the body style of Tiburons ...the regular ones and the Gt's but they are more expensive to get mods for.

I wasn't trying to prove or say anything with it. You don't get it that the tiburons S/C don't need to run as much PSI. He turned his up to like 18-19psi, and the tiburon still won. How much is that SRT-4, like 30,000. I know that Tibby only has like 6,000 or so on it, so it all equals out. That SRT4 wasn't stock either by the way, hence the GReddy boost controller. All I am getting at, now that your arguing about it again, is that for under 30,000, I can have more WHP than a stock EVO, which usually ends up coming to like 32,000 - 34,000 after all said and done. It's a good video jim, you should just let it finish man. In the first race, the Tiburon misses 3rd and still owns.
-
fully loaded SRT4 is $22825. Fully loaded Tiburon is 22085 for an auto, 22135 for a 6 speed. IDK what you are talking about here. For $690 you aren't going to run down any SRT4's. Get both of them to 30k w/ mods and I'd be willing to bet there wouldn't even be a contest. No offense, cuz I am glad you are trying something a little different, I just don't see how it's going to be as easy as you think to build huge HP. Even if/when you do reach the WHP of the Evo or STi or any AWD car for that matter, odds are that you won't put up the times that they do. Why? Because you will have to deal w/ weight transfer to the rear of the car which will make getting traction on the line all that much harder. What I'm saying is don't count your chickens before they've hatched.
-
I know man, all I wan't is like 275 or so WHP, which is easily done with one kit. Actually, the manual tibbys with that same RIPP S/C setup are laying down like 312 WHP. Yeah there will be traction issues because I am FF, but it would still be great, and I could own EVO and STI from a roll, just like jim. Your an auto also arent you tj?
Now that I think about it, no I won't have traction issues, my luanches let me only go so high, and I think, that will actually help me. I see all these people that launch way high, and just sit and spin all day. I don't think it will be that bad.

You could be running 25psi on a tiny turbo, or high boost on a tiny supercharger, and not equal what a big turbo would even at low boost. You can't compare the SRT-4's turbo with the Alpine supercharger... I don't know jackshit about superchargers, but the Alpine kit uses Eaton M63 supercharger... I'd be willing to bet it's a good deal larger then the 16G used in the SRT-4. Throw in more displacement and two more cylinders....
A boost controller really isn't much of a mod, compared to an entire supercharger kit (and then some). There's no doubt that a Tiburon could make 250whp... but anything above that is going to take some serious cash. The SRT-4 or Evo on the other hand, already have engines that have been proven to make 400+ hp.

Someone made a comment about the tib only running 6psi, like it was a low slow number, so I said that it's not the same scale pretty much. I just said the boost controller because I saw that for sure. They are not big, but it has more. I can't for sure make it out, but it looks like it says IMBC, or just MBC, WGA, 3inch exhaust and intake. All the tiburon has is S/C bolt-on. You should be able to d/l it now good, I just got it again at like 170k/s.

OK I just watched the video. 11.5psi the first run against the Tiburon.... that is super low boost for the SRT-4. When he turns it up just a bit higher, they are DEAD even. Only when he gets off the gas does the Tiburon pass him. IMO that's not ownage... Not bad for a car with just a boost controller and exhaust. In response to your comment about 6psi as "low" boost for the tiburon.... The tiburon's engine internals weren't built for much more then 6psi (the same will almost all NA engines)... so that would be about the limit for it.

It also doesn't have any FI stock. Tiburons can run up to 14 psi on those S/C's. 6psi is good for that S/C. It's not the same scale. The engines can also take 300+ on stock internals, not to bad of a platform if you ask me. Thanks for putting senior ricer on my profile. I really enjoy it. It's to bad that I don't like rice, and I am not rice at all. The neons are done, get over it, and if anyone wants to help me finish smashing the rest, be my guest.

Senior Ricer haha thats great...i dont think any tiburon would own a STI or Evo from a roll either...especially not yours!

Boost is boost, turbo just generates it from exhaust gases, s/c from a pulley. I didn't do the user title, and I'm sure it was a joke.
I'd enjoy seeing a Tiburon boost 14psi. I am 100% sure that engine would not last.

As soon as I get done working my ass off for my money. You shouldn't even be talking, you have an accord, that will never probably even get to 250whp.
