and i find expensive honda swaps pointless...its like spending 3-4 grand for less than 200 flywheel hp...its like my stock dsm makes nearly the same hp and WAY more torqe for FAR less money...and as far as im concerned a stock dsm will last you nearly as long as a honda as long as you treat it right...and beat up the hondas while your at it too hehe!!!

You can do what you want but if you are on a budget it is not the best way to go. Yeah if you are shitting out $100 bills go ahead then and swap in a $7k K20A then but for the common people it just isn't a great way to go.

What is the most horsepower a d series has made? Nick is halfway there with a stock block.

i agree, for a broke college/high school student spending thousands of dollars on a swap isn't the way to go. calling it pointless or dumb or a waste of money is a bit ignorant though.

                LONG POST AHEAD.......

And just because someone is going to be bitchin about proof. Here is a quote from another forum, this is just one 500 hp D series that took me about 2 min. of searching to find:

"I'm selling my 1989 CRX Si with a built and turbo'd D16Y8 in it. The setup is TurbodCX's (on honda-tech) old setup. It made 502whp and 370ft lbs of torque on 33psi with race gas. Right now it's running off of the 20psi wastegate spring, and is tuned on 93 oct. pump gas. The car runs great, I've barely driven it since it's been finished, but now I'm heading off to school and just don't have the time or money to put into it any more. I'm looking for trades or money, I spent over 7,000 dollars on the engine and turbo setup alone. PM me with reasonable offers, serious inquiries only

                Interior:
Autometer Boost and Oil Pressure Gauges
                Mint condition Si seats
Only damage to the interior is on the back of the door panels (common in CRX's)

                Exterior:
                Just recently painted black
                15x6.5 Rota Slipstreams
                205/50/15 BFG's in front
195/50/15 Pirelli winter tires in the back

                Under the Hood:
Built D16Y8 with ported and polished head
                Ferrea Valvetrain
                Zex Cam

well, i stand corrected, but my point was b series can hold more hp more reliably thats all.

Not true, a built D will hold up just as well as a built B.

Building a honda engine is the same no matter what engine it is.

eg: forged internals, upgraded cam, upgraded valvetrain, sleeves.

Once a D or B is built they will pretty much take anything that you can throw at them. 🙂

The only real difference is the B can flow more CFMs. Which will be able to make it produce more horsepower overall, but every day someone builds a stronger D. Plus D's generally come in lighter cars which makes up for the small ammount of difference with the weight to power ratio.

so the only way to go is turbo? ok i guess u can go and tell skunk 2 to quit working on there all-motor 9 sec car.

I can see traction being a HUGE problem in that CRX.

spoolude, I never said that skunk2 needs to quit, and I never said that turbo is the only way to go. People can do whatever they want with their engines, I am just saying that there isn't a reason to do a B swap when a D can do the same or more for the same ammount of money. Oh yea, and if you are talking about their 9 sec n/a RSX that they just recently unveiled, guess what they built the K that came with the car which has NOTHING to do with swapping engines.

Bad93ex (re traction) that is what slicks, traction bars, and an LSD are for. 🙂

His car came with a B series.

I was just flipping through the pages of SCC and came across a fine example. Though it is not a B series engine they swapped a H22a into a CRX. Even with intake and exhaust with some fuel management the thing could only muster a 14.1 pass. But wait with nitrous and some slicks it ran a 13.5.

His car came with a B series.

I was just flipping through the pages of SCC and came across a fine example. Though it is not a B series engine they swapped a H22a into a CRX. Even with intake and exhaust with some fuel management the thing could only muster a 14.1 pass. But wait with nitrous and some slicks it ran a 13.5.

my car came with a b series also. all i have been saying from the beginning is people can make there car fast how ever they want. if they want to use a b series fine if they want to use a d series fine. in the end i don't really care, as long as they're happy with their car and i'm happy with my car.
