I have nothing against hondas D16Z6 motor, loved mine, but they arn't potent enough. Get a B18C motor, you wont regret it, plus the cost of building your Z6 will be up there in the range of a good used B18 motor. If you dont take my advice, Quality Engine does a great job at motor work. Id take it to them for the whole setup, theyll even order the parts you would need after they determine what damage is done.

in no possible way will a rebuild on his block cost what a b18c1 motor will.

let see.....500-800 in parts for parts, plus labor to R&R the motor, then any additional parts that need/want to be removed, then the cost of taking the motor in to have it rebuild....Id say it is up there....NOW, if you do the work yourself, then of course there is no way itll run that high.....but, how many motors has he rebuilt hisself, and does he have access to easily have the motor R&R'd? I dont know, Im just talking from myself as a professional technician point of view.

no thanks guys, im doing this cause its cheaper than a swap and i need my car moving ASAP. I am assembling the motor my self, but i am taking it to quality to get the crank done and cylanders honed. There shouldnt be anything else needed since im not tearing apart the head, im just pulling the head off and leaving that the way it is. Than later im going to buy another Z6 to build, already have one lined up. And just a normal rebuild would never cost the same as a B18C swap. Unless i were to fully build the motor, than it would.

Kevin, I would buy your motor if it was cheaper, cause a grand for just a motor is too much in my opinion.

OH, and the swap i was going to buy needs a complete rebuild too so its pointless. I would spend the extra dough to build my motor also, but i only have like a month to get it moving. And i cant come up with that kind of money that quick.

Ya, i know, and completely rebuilding this motor according to all data is 23.3 hours of rebuild, then another 7.7 hours of R&Ring it. Then add on the cost of parts.....

$1864 to rebuild, $616 to R&R it, then another $500-$800 for parts. So anotherwords, your looking at the cost of a swap.....BUT since harwood is going to do it himself, well, I dont know how much he trusts his own work in it, but hell be looking at machining costs and parts, which will be a lot cheaper, but there will be no warrenty with it then.

i trust my work on assembling it, the hardest thing with motors in my opinion is valve adjustments, but that was just done and im not tearing the valve train apart at all. I have a shop manual for the torque specs and i have a budy that is a tech at the honda dealer that is helping me. Assembly is pretty basic.

Also i have done a couple V8's in shop and small engines(motorcycle, dirt bike, lawn mowers) and i know they are different than my motor but basic assembly is the same.
