V6...its lighter and plus you can take the money you would need to buy the V8 and put it in the V6 and TURBO IT!Generally some very good advice... although the 3.8 liter Ford V6 is one of the worst engines ever made. Might as well buy a 50 pack of head gaskets for it.

DING! We have a winner. You are exactly right. However, isn't it partially the shops responsibility to try and open their eyes to new experiences. I mean, wouldn't it make sense for everyone involved in this game to say to the guy that's coming in for the neons "Hey, I haven't seen you around before, a bunch of us are going out to Sabin to watch the races this Friday, you should come along, there will be some pretty cool cars out there and I think you'd enjoy it.......look for my car its the _______ I will be racing as well.....bring along some friends as well, it's a good time"That way you are opening several doors...you are getting the trust of the customer by having him hang out with the guys from the shop, you are opening him up to the world of dragracing..thereby possibly creating a ton more business for your shop. SLS and Type-R might be the exception to this rule, I think just about everyone who goes there is already into the scene, or else they wouldn't even know about them. But Tintmasters, Roadsounds, Team, Autowerx, and anyone else I'm forgetting should be proactively trying to nurture these people into coming out. Maybe you guys are doing that already, I don't know.
Best. Post. Ever.
Tjamz, you have better business sense than some people in marketing that I know.

Supercoupe is a decent car, however the 3.8L ford DID have issues with head gaskets...
issue was the supercoupe's very restrictive exhaust. Exhaust gases weren't removed from the clinders totally and with the blower pushing that much more air in, cylinder pressures would get too high and the gaskets would let go. If you have a stock supercoupe and drive it hard, you WILL blow the HGs out of it..
however, if you either put in high quality gaskets (I believe guys have had good luck with the felpro gaskets) or ran headers and good downtubes, you were fine. The rest of the motor is ready to go like mad. After that your next step is a blower that's more efficient than the Eaton M90 (ie: autorotor)....or finally come through with the single turbo conversion that guys have been trying to get together for years.
the N/A ford 3.8L is deffinetly not as stout and didn't have quite as many problems with the head gaskets... Buddy is making 255HP to the wheels and decided to quit there (plans to go for 350 or 400 to the wheels IIRC with a 4.3L stroker V6 sometime in the next year or two) as he figures much more will make swiss cheese of the block.
so as for the HG comment.. fix it right and you're golden.
