i've heard painting a block a certain color is bad for heat but the engine bay shouldn't matter.

Black is naturally a better absorber of radiant heat than other colors. So...I guess it will help you out some by absorbing some of the engine bay heat and conducting it through your body panels to then be convected into the ambient air.

Ive seen a lot of ppl with theirs black so i would assume it should be all good. are you going to remove some of the holes in the bay to by welding them and grinding them smooth too? it gives it that real clean look.

I'm not into "clean" it's too much work. I am, however, a big proponent of no-rust.

And believe me. My engine bay gets wet and dirty.

So does it make me or you more of a ricer if i have a painted engine bay and 4 mufflers = quiet............or you with a fart can and not painted engine bay????

i dont have a fart can. I actually dont have exhaust at all. Or headers. In three cars.

              Or an engine. 😛

Shaved and tucked engine bays are amazing. Don't know what you drive but here are some honda examples. Observe.

They may be "clean" but they are far from shaved. look at 99 civics engine bay that is shaved and tucked. I spent way to much time on my engine bay.

Those bays were tucked, not shaved, otherwise there wouldnt be holes anywheres....there's a K24 CRX on Honda-Tech, had everything tucked and everything shaved, complete down to the bare frame build...
