y8 in a rex

A motor doesnt know what Diagnostics system it is.
You will need the following if you want to run OBD1(easiest):
-cable transmission(89-91 Si trannies are the best cable D trans').
(you could use DX or HF trans... but they make your car way slower)
-DPFI-MPFI wiring(http://www.angelfire.com/d20/hcivic88/dx-siwiring.html)
-Vtec wiring(http://hondaswap.com/general-tech-articles/how-wire-vtec-40811)
-p28 ecu(92-95 civic EX)
-obd1 Vtec distributor(92-95 civic)
-injectors(depending on which you use you may need to wire in a resistor box)
I would suggest looking for a full a6 swap(89-91 si) or just doing an MPFI swap on your d15. A lot less work and almost as much HP gain. you could even put the d15 head on the y8 block if you want thats extra displacement... -
If you just need a new motor, you can swap out the long block and keep your IM, ecu, dizzy (you would need to swap housings), alternator, and all. Then it will run and drive without vtec and all. To have vtec then, you would need to swap everything like Wannabe said. Ordering a full conversion harness would be the easiest cuz otherwise it is a lot of wiring to figure out.

I have respect for yours...but unless u boost the D, the majority of them are turds...Yea, cuz all motor b-series are so fast........yea right.

since when were hondas fast period?

Yea, cuz all motor b-series are so fast........yea right. All motor hondas in general arent usually fast, but at least u can get 300hp outa b and k series with all motor...havent seen any d's that came close to that....granted i'd never do that cuz it's a waste of money, personally boosted b's are the way to go

Well if it's just a winter beater I would recomend not going for a lot of power, lol. I drove my crx with a ls swap last winter, and was worthless even with snow tires. Should work if u convert the dizzy and stuff to obd1 and the car to MPFI and then use an OBD0-OBD1 jumper harness, but get one that has the wires for vtec and 4 wire O2 sensor on it....You can use your stock crx trans, or put an si one in if u want a little shorter gearing.

weird.. my DPFI hatch was faster than my MPFI hatch that I have now. 25 hp gain? I read a dyno chart they claimed like a 12-17 hp gain wich realy isn't worth it. I'd leave your mpfi and swap the block and head if your dizzy fits on it. Your stock dizzy will fit on all 88-91 heads, I know for sure it fits on 96-00 heads and 92-95 heads that are not vtec-e

If you're gonna spend the money get a full OBD 0 B18 swap, mounts, and linkage...cost bout a grand...lot more power than messing with the D series...Trust me I had one in my CRX and it ripped very good.My crx pulls pretty hard with its LS...go b series
