I could hold my own against about anyone in any process, most people think they are such "great" welders but they really dont understand how to set a machine up or even the philosophy behind the different processes

I know how to set a mig welder. I did it 50 hours a week for a year.

Most of all production shops the welder has only slight control over a machine....

But in the new inverter machines there are so many cool things you can work with it is definately neat.....

i didn't work on a line, I had my own machine with my own tank. DMI isnt really a production sho as each product is so huge we dont have menotenous parts welding.
I welded anywhere from 1/4" to 1 1/2" and trust me, the welder needs to be set right to pass CWB testing.

We went to airgas and there was a lincoln rep showing off the powermig350, that thing was the shit, especially for aluminum.

A trained monkey could probably even mig weld...how bout an arc weld-off, I love watching people get all frustrated and pissed when they keep getting the rod to stick. When I took metals even the most retarded kids could mig, but most of the people in the class couldn't arc weld to save their life...

ndscs for sure, im in the welding program right now, you can take it at the skills center in fargo. it is a much better course than daves. It is much longer and you get more theory and technical info.

BULLSHIT! You can read a book about welding all day and when time comes to lay a bead it will look like shit. Dave's does 95% hands on actual welding. Just cause its a longer course doesn't mean shit.

wow are you serious?? I am not even going to argue with such idiotic statement

Even in a simple process like MIG i bet you dont even understand the principle or differences between the different transfers like Spray, Pluse, or Short Arc... or how different sheilding gases affect penetration or why

My dad has always been an excellent welder even without any welding education, because he has tons of experience..........

but when i tell him things and he understands why certain things are doing what they may it makes him a that much better welder
