Theres no argument here their is a GOD there is Jesus there is a Hold spirit!! try proving the bible wrong the bible is holy words. No book has stood the test of time like the bible has there is also evidence that there was a man named Jesus and that he was crucified by the romans back in the day. I just finished Teen Challenge which is a 13 month faith based treatment and just seeing and hearing god talk to you and others makes believers of all. People that were so lost in there life of drugs came to Teen Challenge and became completely new people. Ignorance is blissSounds like all the celebrities that "find God" once they've fucked up their reputation someway and need to get back in the good graces of the people that make them their millions.
Completely new people, till they're caught with a pound of coke up thier nose, and 3 hookers on their johnson.
Bah.

My roomate is catholic. He sits here and is like I won't do that because I am catholic.... and then just does something, that I personally would think is just as bad. He feels the same way about his friends from school(a catholic school) and often reffers to them as good catholic kids, even though the storys I have heard do not consider them so "good." If you understand what I am saying.
I do believe in a God or a Supreme being who created the universe and everthing in it. But, I do not think that not going to church every sunday, saying a bad word, and stuff like that is the fine line of going to heaven or hell.
Age of the world... I can not quote the exact part, but in the bible it says something along the lines of 1 second in Gods eyes is equal to 10,000 years in humans eyes. Or something like that.

Oh, and any of the religious types on here. feel free to explain the actions of all the priests that like to fuck little boys.
Those religious "leaders", the ones you may be listening to every Sunday, are child molesters. It could be your pastor.
Let me guess, as long as they are truly sorry, they'll go to "heaven".
If that's true, I don't wanna go there(a place that accepts child molesters).

It's people like this that give Religion or religious people a bad image. It's the same as someone putting on a Laker's Jersey and murdering people...does that mean the Laker's support murder? No, but I still say I'm doing it in their name and it gives them a bad rep after awhile.
Same thing these priests or any fanatic do for Religion, they tarnish its true meaning by making foolish acts "in the name of" it.
What's worse is that people go along with them and blame the entire institution rather than the radicals...

I think the number one threat to "Religion" is the "Church". If you actually sat down and looked at it, many things the Church/high religious authorities do or say are contradictory to God's word. Any church that hates homosexuals or anything like that is a hypocritical institution I believe. If they TRUELY followed God's word they'd leave the judgments to him and do everything they could to help people follow God and be saved.I think this is a big reason there is a fairly strong anti-religion movement lately. The church is becoming oppressive again it seems and is really doing a good job at turning people away from morality and anything even remotely religious in nature. Pretty sad if you ask me...
QFT
Hate the action, not the person. The bible does teach that homosexuality is a sin, the bible also teaches that murder is a sin, stealing is a sin, adultry is a sin....ect. That does not mean that we should hate the people that commit these actions. The bible says, "We are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of god." For this reason, noone should ever think that they are better, or more holy or sinless then another person. Sin is sin in God's eyes. Jesus himself didn't hang out and spend all his time with the high religious authrities who knew the scripture. He hung out with prostitutes, theives, other criminals and people that others might consider scum and who had probably never even heard God's word. He loved those people the same as he loves everyone.

To be frank, Catholics scare me. I was an usher at a catholic wedding and I honestly had a hard time standing there during the rehearsal. What surprised me even more was when a family member who I thought was a devoted catholic finally got fed up with the radical beliefs of the catholic church and went lutheran (at that same rehersal basically). But after sitting there listening to the priest speak about the religion - to tell me that they truly believe that the blood of christ is in the vase and the body of christ was in his hand - to see the way young children were led along like mindless minions (children that age are too immature to know what they really believe - it's brainwashing IMO) - I HONESTLY shook it worked me up that much. In any other situation, with these actions, had these not been based under a christian/catholic religion - it would have been a cult and scorned until it was blue in the face.

my god looks like slash, drives a big foot monster truck, and parties SEVEN days a week. why? because he is god and god doesnt need a whole day to rest, thats just childish.

I'm not sure, I know that organized religion is a joke, think priest alterboy scandals. I also can't deny the fact that sometimes I really can believe there is a god. That said I don't think that I will be judged on weither or not I have accepted JC as my lord and savior. I just try to be a good guy, maybe watch a little less porn this year than I did last year, and if there is a god and i'm judged to be deserving of the fires of hell I guess I'll be in good company because a lot of fuckers are coming with me.

Or so they believe its more of a theory than anything i dont know if they are wrong or right but im not a scientist but from what i have read its accurate for a few thousand years after that its a guessing game the technology hasnt been around long enough to give any real proof.Yes you are absolutly right the technology hasn't been around for hundreds of millions of years so there is no way to prove it. Except that it has been proven that atoms, especially carbon, decay at a certain rate. So I think its safe to asssume that you can get pretty darn close by checking out the carbon atoms of a really old rock or bone. We are talking about hundreds of millions of years here whats a few thousand here and there.

BTW, can you non-believers in a higher being, please tell me how we all came to be here? What came first, the chicken or the egg? What caused the big bang? How did all of the elements involved in the big bang get there in the first place?...You can't tell me that we are here by accident...We are 100,000s of thousands of miles away from the sun...Yet a small tilt in our Earth by just a few 100 miles causes extremes in weather...you are telling me that all of this is a total coincedence?...if so...holy mother of ignorant

That is a great program that they run there in Mandan and has one of the highest rates of turning drug users into non-drug users (something like a 92% success rate for getting people off Meth and keeping them off....that's amazing in itself)

The only thing im gonna say on this issue is that i don't support organized religion because it is a bunch of bullshit.......

Of the billions of stars/galaxy's/planets in the universe, you tend to think that Earth is the only one capable of supporting life...which one of us is ignorant?
I'll explain my belief system when I have more time, I do believe in God. There was a time when I wasn't so sure, but that changed dramatically on a day in May about 18 months ago. I'm not a fan of organized religion, because I don't believe any one religion has it all correct. I don't believe you will receive salvation through the church, but rather directly with a personal relationship with God. Everyone's relationship will be slightly different, that is human nature. I do believe that the basic ideas presented by the church can help guide you to salvation, but you will have to create your own path using their instructions. I believe an atheist can get to heaven, I believe a Christian can be denied access to heaven. I don't believe in Hell as it is discussed by most major Christian religions. I believe God created the world and the basic building blocks of life. I believe God essentially created the following (as it relates to Science)
Kingdom
Phylum
Class
Order
FamilyI believe the following evolved over time
Genus
SpeciesI don't believe we evolved from apes, though I do think we are a related species. I do believe that we evolved from prehistoric man to present day homosapien.
I believe that God would want us to use any technology we can to help mankind, this includes embryonic stemcells, though I don't believe he would want us to create stem-cell farms. Rather, if there were left over embyros from people wanting to get pregnant via in vitro impregnation, then we are better off using the cells rather than destroying the embryos entirely (much like organ donors....better to reuse the heart/lung/kidney of a dead person to help another live than to discard the body in its entirety. )
Thats the much abbreviated version of my beliefs. Not everyone will agree with me, but this is a system that works well for me and lets me sleep peacefully at night. And really, that is all that matters.
