Is this another common problem with DSMs?
-
I got up this morning and checked out weather.com to find out it is -25 outside. My roomies car wouldn't start so it made me worry about mine. I had a class at 9:00 so I decided to start it at 8:30 so it could warm up for a while.
Althhough it didn't want to start, it did reluctantly. So I let it idle for about 15 minutes while I went back inside to see if they called off school (No such luck.) I come back outside at about 8:50 which should give me reasonable time to get to school.
I try getting my car into reverse but it just won't go. I sat tried to do it for about 15 minutes with no luck. I ended up hitching a ride with a girl to school but never went to class because I hate interupting a professor.
Is this a problem with DSM's hating to go into reverse like this or is this just a cold weather problem?

I was thinking about that but money is a little tight right now. It would go into every gear except reverse. I think I am going to try and talk my roomies into pushing my car so I can warm up the tranny a little then park it facing out for next time.
How well does the Syncromesh work? Weshole could you guys put that in for me at Tires Plus?

syncromesh is just fluid...you flush the system and put in syncromesh...just check the master cylinder see how much fluid is in it...

well to check the fluid just check the cylinder master or slave...if its low add some dot 3 or 4 fluid......only takes a couple of minutes then pump the clutch to get the air out...maybe that will work

did you try putting it into 4th and then quickly into reverse? that has worked everytime for me in any car i've driven
Well I went out and tried it again a little later and it went right in but I will try that next time. -
I think I am going to try some Pennzoil Syncromesh. I have read on dsmtuners that it works well and is about $5 cheaper per bottle than the GM stuff even though it is the same stuff.

I just tried and reverse is a little reluctant to go in but it does when it is off.
I guess it has the same part # as the GM stuff but is under a different name. I did look into on Dsmtuners.
