Guage install help.
-
alls i can say is i had my gauges hooked up like that once...then one day my car started smoking from my volts gauge..and they all stoped working...all my wiring melted.
-
Actually i set the diagram up in parallel, with series i would have to take the groun off the first one and connect it to the power on the next and so on. the way they are connected is like taking one wire and splicing seperate wires off of it to connect the power to the guages. same with the ground.

To power up the gauges and the lights on the gauges, you should use a bigger gauge wire than what is supplied just to be on the safe side. Use maybe a 14ga wire for the ignition and ground and then tap off of those for the 4 seperate gauges. And please use solder and tape.

use shrink tube and tape....trust me.

I now use heat shrink tubing and electrical tape since a clean connection is the most important thing with wiring. The heat shrink tubing doesn't make a perfect seal against the elements, and using tape alone can come apart. I picked up the most expensive model of 3M black electrical tape and it's rated for a wide range of temperatures.

Super 33 from 3m is what normally use, and pin is right, to get a really good seal it's a good idea to do both.

Also make sure you use autometer's sending units.

You cannot just splice into the wires. You can t the sender off of the back of the block though. 1/8 NTP -> -4AN adapter threads into the back of the block where the dummy light sender threads in, then run a 6" -4AN line up to a brass T. Then off of the brass t you will have the stock dummy light sender on one side, and the autometer sender on the other side. I cannot remember if you have to do something similar for the water temp or not...
